Speaking of this, I'm dealing with the plastic tanks, which I hope to be moving away from soon and switching to glass. Even after I switch flavors and try to clean out the atomizer, the taste of the previous flavor still seems to be the only thing I taste. I switched from a Mtn Dew flavor, for example, to an RY4, but all I'm getting is Mtn Dew. Is there a good way to prevent this? And will a glass tank help?

Kytrix,

Everyone on these forums will feel your pain. You need to think about what "taste" you enjoy, sweet, tart, tobacco substitute, etc. The first "filled cartos" I received were too strong (due to nic level). If you think you would like a tobacco substitute, I tend to like EC Blends RY4 and Black Magic (my all day vape and favorite). I purchased pre-mixed juice 50/50 @ 12 nic from Wizard Labs with 1/2 dozen flavors and have not yet found one that is really great. I am going to purchase 1/2 dozen more (they are only $1.49 a bottle) and try some mixtures, especially with Bavarian Cream which everyone seems to love. As far as Cartomizers go, personally I think they give the best flavor. I purchase blank cartos and fill them using the "condom" method, then top them off every so often when the flavor fades. Most of us have spent a small fortune in trying flavors (which are truly subjective to each individual). Best of Luck in finding your favorite vape.

i would start by bringing my kit (device juice delivery and fluids) with me to a B&M store and see if i was in fact doing something wrong... as for no flavor it could be the juices you have... could be bad device, could be burnt taste buds... could be alot of things...

as for the kit it looks like an old tankomizer i used to have and the flavor off of the one i had was amazing... you could try a standard atomizer or a cartomizer see if that gives you more flavor?

ive never had a tankomizer give me a burnt taste at all. usually i just refill the tanks when they are low, what are the flavors you have exactly?

+1 -- bring it to a good local store; they should be able to help you out with setup, if that's the issue.

Thanks for your input, White Rabbit. I don't think it's that I can't find a taste I like though. I smell each flavor before I try it, and they smell absolutely delicious. But then once it's vaporized and in my mouth it tastes like something completely different, or I can't prevent it from tasting exactly like what I had last vaped. This happens even after cleaning the atomizers and catridges thoroughly and even changing the head out. I'm beginning to suspect that it's my mouth just being thoroughly confused and wondering why I'm not sucking on burning tar and hydrocarbons.

Could it be as simple as my moth being mad at me for the change, or Vaper's Mouth?

I might have hit on your problem!:) Vaping is entirely different from smoking because the vapor does not smell like it tastes nor does it smell like smoke. Most vapor has no smell, and smell and taste go together SO ---- You need to take several small puffs, then when the vapor gets going take a longer drag and exhale it through your nose. You will then get the "flavor hit". Search how to vape or vaping techniques on this forum for more suggestions. If you just draw and exhale or draw and inhale, you will not enjoy the full flavor.

That storm looks identical to the ego tank kit I bought when I started on this journey. I have nothing good to say about their atomizers.
Have you tried the rebuildable clearomizers.they clean up in a snap.the ONLY thing I don't care for about them is you occasionally have to spin them to wick properly. But, that's cause I use 50/50 mix I think. Maybe a higher pg end would wick a little better and yes, those minty cinnamon juices can fog them up or make them crack.
Right now, that's my sweet spot.:2c:

This could very well be it. Though I do feel like an iPhone use when Jobs said, "You're holding it wrong," I understand what you mean. I've got one custom flavor from EC - Caramel, Coconut, and Vanilla in different concentrations. That one does taste different than it smells, but it's similar using the nose exhale, and I like it. I can't believe it was as stupid as "you're doing it wrong" but it seems to be the case. smh.

My other question has to do with the plastic tank cartidges. I CANNOT ever get the overpowering smell of the liquids out of them, making it hard to switch flavors without it tasting really off, even after a thorough cleaning with boiling water. Does anyone have a suggestion for this, or should I switch over to something like a clearomizer system? This is frustrating.

As new as I am to this, no I haven't tried rebuildables. I'll have to do some research to figure out how all that works. I've not figured out the PG/VG mix that works best for me yet, but I'm definitely looking for the best experience I can have. The only way I'll be able to stay off the cancer sticks is if this is better.

Hi! Some of the vendors (Vixen Vapor I know for sure) sells a product called "Flavor Eraser." I haven't tried it yet, but I imagine it's just for attys not cartos. A glass tank isn't going to affect the flavor - it's the atty or the cartomizer that holds the flavor. The plastic in your tank shouldn't have any taste either; it's just a tube.

It might be best to switch to a menthol even though I'm not a big fan, just to see if that helps... or at least tastes like menthol. That link was a great share. Thanks.

I smoke for 40+ years at PAD. I HATE menthol but I tried some anyway from a vendor and it tasted just like Vics Vapor Rub (if your old enough to remember that stuff). Anyway, I tried another just to see if another menthol/cool type juice would taste the same and BINGO, I found something to add to my rotation: Extreme ICE from Mt Baker Vapor. Cool, refreshing and it had some sweet taste to it. I ordered it at 50/50 with an extra shot since I can not taste flavors most of the time.

My question is, are you letting your juices steep for a bit? 7-10 days to let the flavors come out. Since you are close to a B&M store will they let you sample different flavors? Visit them to check your device out, it maybe defective.

steeping; I ran into this when I started and noticed some juices did have to sit before getting more flavorful

taste buds; my sense of taste was gone too and I also had a metallic taste that totally overpowered everything; metallic taste was from bleeding gums and an exposed metal part of a crown

water; dehydration affects taste and can also product metallic taste

the flavors that I thought I liked didn't seem to be as good once my taste started returning, they ended up being too strong

if you don't inhale, smelling the vapor will help

if you do inhale, exhale through mouth and nose

check equipment too, battery too low or high will change taste based on the ohms; crusted coils need cleaning/replacing, used cartos need replacing, threaded connection not making good connection

probably repeated what others said :)

You guys have been a great help to me in my first real foray into vaping. So glad I registered here. I'm glad to see some other people have had some issues with taste in the beginning. I do inhale, and I think my taste is starting to return because I'm tasting more distinct differences between liquids. I will start steeping the ones I'm not liking at a moment to see how they change, and doing so with more of them as I acquire more juices.

I've definitely noticed the cottonmouth, and begun drinking a lot more fluids, which I'm sure is also another healthy side effect. :)

I'll try to check with my guy soon about equipment, but it seems fine... but what do I know, right? I should add it's not a B&M store (which stands for what? I've heard the term for vape shops, but have no idea of the meaning), he's a part-time online only retailer, so he can be hard to get hold of.

Had a look at the Flavor Eraser. It's a cleaner for the atomizer. Not sure if it should be dripped onto the atomizer head or the atomizer itself, but it has some good comments, even though there are only three of them. Bookmarked it and when I go to buy stuff again I'll go back. I'm totally .... about comments and reviews on things that cost money. Working in a grocery store and being a college student will do that. Will also look for reviews elsewhere and if I try it I'll report back.

And I know from experience doing other things that plastic can hold on to flavors and tastes. That said, glass doesn't seem to have that same effect. You answered my questions though. How do you prevent flavors from blending when switching flavors, if you don't mind? Does simply switching carts or tanks work for you?

I prefer to use carto tanks (if that's the right terminology), and if I just used a strong flavored juice, I rinse out the tank and grab a new cart. Had to do this after trying radiator pluid today. Man, does that flavor linger.
