Hey guys, noob to the forum here, but I've been vaping on and off for a year or so. I'm trying to convert my mom and wife over to vaping. I'm half way there with the woman, but it's a little bit of a struggle with my mom. I got her a few cig-a-likes a while back, and she would use them, but the problem was she would burn the hell out of the cartos. She's been smoking for 40+ years, and I have a feeling her sence of taste is so bad, she can't taste the burning.

What I'm thinking of trying is something like a clearo, so that she can see the amount of liquid left. I'm a huge carto-tank fan myself, but I don't want her to have to fiddle with them too much. I purchased 2 Kanger T3's, but man they were junk. I don't know if I got bad ones or not, but they hit VERY dry and scratchy no matter the juice, or even removing some of the wicks at the bottom.

Any ideas on what I could get, that's low fuss that my mom can see the juice in? I'm thinking a Vivi nova next, but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Hmm the nanos look interesting. I should mention, I recently got her an Ego kit that came with a twist. I'd like to stick to the 510 connection now. The tanks with the Ego are a joke, I've never had good luck with them. I'll do some reading on the Vision nano's, they seem decent.

The Nanos are thinner than an eGo, they are about the diameter of a cig-a-like.

Kanger T3 are very good clearomizers, and they are eGo-threaded. There is a learning curve there, like with every new PV. Don't throw them out. I've been using my T3s and eGo-C changeable coil cartomizers with great success. Never had a problem. I recently ordered the newer Kanger Evod; it's just like the T3 but a bit smaller. Those are BCC (bottom coil changeable) cartomizers. There are also top-coil CC (changeable coil) clearomizers, like CE4 CC clearomizers for eGo.

Here's a great video explaining how they work:

Kanger E-Vod (eVod?) Clearomizer - YouTube

Yes, your mom can use cartomizers, but they are much more frustrating in the long run, IMO. Some good ones to try are 510 Boge and Smoktech single coil cartomizers.

Good luck!

Ive also been thinking about getting something for my mom. I was thinking of an eGo-T or C.

eGo-T is older technology.

I recommend eGo-C or eGo-C Twist (if she want variable voltage). eGo T tankomizers are more prone to leaking and don't come with changeable coils. Changeable coils are a great invention and I couldn't live without them. :)

If her ability to fiddle with this stuff is minimal, and you already have the eGo batteries:

Consider just getting her an eGo XL atty setup. With the carts to go with even. These are referred to as either eGo XL type A or B , or eGo MEGA "cone" or "cylinder" attys. (Liberty Flights carries them listed as eGo XL type A or B.) The type A "cone" uses a cartridge that holds up to 2 ml's liquid, the type B "cylinder" uses a different cartridge that holds up to 2.5 ml's. These aren't itty bitty attys with tiny, less than 1 ml cartridges. They are eGo threaded and eliminate the use of an eGo cone (cover.)

These are huge compared to standard size attys. And because the cartridges are so big they can run for hours before they need more liquid added. If she lets the setup go completely dry? It won't hurt anything - it will just stop producing vapor. Your job - lol - might be to replace the polyfill in the carts every month. Or just buy some new ones - they're cheap enough. You could clean the attys for her every couple of weeks, or just toss 'em when the vapor production really drops off. Even then, she can just toss the heavily used attys to the side until someone gets to cleaning them. It won't hurt them any worse if they just sit there, waiting to be cleaned.

This is the most basic setup I can think of. All she has to do is pop off the cartridge and hit the polyfill with the liquid. If you can't get her to do that...

Well - I am a mom and a grandma that smoked for 46 years  I have to agree that not wanting to have anything too complicated is what makes me the happiest.

I really like my eGo Twists - they are 650 mah and my 900 mah "purple" spinner. I have tried the cartos and just really don't like them - although it is my understanding that to get the benefit of them you need to put them in a tank. So - now we are talking about punching cartos and priming the carto and then filling the tank - and my mind goes lala%20cant%20hear%20u.gif I just want something easy.

So for me I really like all of these - Kanger Evod, T3, Vision Vivi Nova and the Mini Vivi Nova. I can see when they need to be filled, they are easy to clean and I have very few problems with any of them. I know many have issues with probably all of these - but for me they work.

Probably the best hassle free choice would be a mini Vivi Nova. Easy screw off top cap for juice fills. One tankfull will probably last her all day. You could replace the rebuildable heads when they die.. Make sure to remind her she needs to frequently "tip" it to keep the wicks wet, especially when juice levels get low or she'll get dry hits.

The Nano only holds 1 ml, but having one is great to test out new juice flavor samples. Same easy screw off top to fill.

It's not hard to learn how to fill a cartomizer with a few tricks and modifications, but as you pointed out you can't visually see the juice levels.

There are clear Phoeniz clearomizers and Fluxomizer CE2's from Got Vapes, but I think those require filling with a needle and syringe.

if you wanna go large, do what she said! if cig-a-like go nano

the phoenix reborns are amazing, but can be a ***** to refill, thats why the nano is better for her(s)

You are so right. The twists are definitely bigger than the cig-a-like - which is why I started with the 650 mah twist - trying to stay smaller :D

I did start with a cig-a-like and quickly got frustrated with not only having to charge it all the time - but with filling the cartos. I also have a few nanos - that I use when I want to try new juice and don't want to fill a larger device. I tried the dripping thing with 3 different attys and - so far just way to messy for me and honestly with my over "smoked" taste buds - I can't tell the difference in flavor with the dripping.

you are correct, not changeable, but VERY easy to use and fill, and taste great

I love changeable coils. To me they were a game changer. As soon as the coil gets gunked up, I pop a new one and I have a brand new clearo. No hassle, no waste. I put the dirty coils in a needs-cleaning tin, and when I have 5 or 6 of them, I just soak them in some vodka, let them dry out a bit and they are like new. They can even be rebuilt, but I'm too lazy to bother. Evod coils cost $1.50 apiece and they last a long tiime. What's not to like? :)

Kanger T3 are very good clearomizers, and they are eGo-threaded. L

There's more than one version of genuine Kanger T3s. Some are supposed to be good, the ones I got was crap. You'll want the ones with vents in the threading, not around the base. If a random mother gets the wrong kind, it may very well put her off vaping.
