Something is missing and I'm not sure what

Since my eGo won't be here until tomorrow, I went and got myself some SNUS as a test for the alkaloid/MAOI fix and I'll be damned if it's not my missing piece.. the urge to light up even while dizzy from nicotine, the headaches and my .....iness is gone, hopefully this will also take care the insomnia I've had... now that I know what it was, it'll be that much easier to deal with..

Youse guys are awesome.. thanxs

Fenrir,

Please keep us informed. Do you vape less when using snus? What kind of snus, Swedish or American? How much snusing vs vaping, etc.

Good luck.

I found I am missing the..............guilt. Seriously though. The thought of sneaking a smoke is more rewarding and exciting for me than actually smoking it. Which I now hate. I know, makes no sense. My eGo really does satisfy all my cravings and fixations. Its just that guilt thing that I miss.

c.

Ohh I think you can get guilt a plenty with vaping! Just check my avatar ;)

The replies to this thread rather confirmed a long-held suspicion: that the most enjoyable aspect (making it the most missed on quitting) of smoking varies for every individual. While I have no doubt that chemical addiction plays a very strong role in making quitting such a difficult task, there are so many other aspects that add to the difficulty.

Personally, there are so many things which I enjoy about smoking that I'd probably have to start a whole new thread to do them all justice but I'll try to be as brief as possible (in no particular order):
1.) Nicotine (of course)
2.) The different rituals I use prior to actually smoking (packing the cigarettes before opening the pack, etc.)
3.) The physical sensation of something more substantial than air flowing down my throat and into my lungs
4.) Ember Management (flicking ashes, rolling the "cherry" against the side of the ashtray to make it more uniformly conical, etc.)
5.) The toys involved (lighters, cigarette cases, etc.)
6.) The fact that every hour or so I had an internal alarm prompting me to go outside (and this is a MONDO Big Deal to me since I'm parked in front of a computer all day, most days)

All of those except numbers 4 and 6 are more than satisfied by vaping. And while they're not as regular, I still take breaks to get away from my desk and get outside (usually in conjunction with a "comfort break").

That being said, I'm still finding it difficult to give up the smokes. But given all the other times I've tried to quit, it's much less than I expected. I've gone from a pack a day to an average of 4-5 per day. I'm hoping to have quit entirely by the end of the month.

Now if I my eGo would get here from China so I could ditch these No.7s... but that's a topic for a different thread.

I've smoked a pack and a half of Marlboro Red 100's a day for over 10 yrs.
I started vaping with a Blu their 24mg carts, but was still smoking 3-5 cigs a day. The Blu was great for seeing what vaping was about and figuring out it COULD be an viable alternative but, after doing my research the 510 seemed to be the ONE, tons of positive reviews.

I quit smoking analogs and switched to vapeing when I got my 510, and 36mg eliquid from a local supplier and this was MUCH, MUCH better then the Blu but, something was still missing. Up to 42mg eliquid and again, MUCH better but, still missing something. Then I switched to Low-Res attys and that hit the spot, lots of vape, loads of nic, way better then smoking!

But alas, here 6 months later, my 510 batts nearing the end of their lifespan, stopped producing enough vapor, and me not having enough cash in hand to replace 1, let alone the 3-4 510 batts it takes to get me through the day, I succomed to the craving about 3 weeks ago and switched back to analogues. Now I'm gearing up to vape anew, forgoing the lower mAh batts I did my research and decided modding one myself is the way to go. I've ordered the parts and eliquid so, in 3-8 weeks when I get my 18650 2600mAh batts in the mail from China, I'll be all set.

I'm so anxious to start vapeing again...

Just out of curiosity, why did you decide against the eGo (Tornado, etc), Riva, or other versions of the 650-750 mAh battery? If you're ordering directly from China anyway (and don't mind the two to three weeks it'll take to process and recieve your order), there's at least one online retail site (BigBoxStore.com) that offers an eGo kit (2x 650 mAh batts, 1x 510 ato, 1x ato cone cover, 5x 510 carts) for around $35 US (plus $12 shipping). There are plenty of domestic retailers who also stock the eGo or its equivalents.

Personally, I don't disagree that a mod is the ultimate in vaping. Just wondering. :)

Well, I'm very cash poor at the moment so, the biggest reason I decided MOD vs an off-the-shelf eGo or Riva is price,

ego
$35(unit)+$12(shipping)=$47
replacement batts every 6-12mos = $15(?)ea

DIY
$5(batt connector, led w/resistor, switch and box)+$8(2 batts)=$13
replacement batts every 12-24mos = $4 ea (free shipping from China)

Second reason is battery, I'm a heavy smoker and a very heavy vaper (my 510 never left my hand) the ego (as far as I've seen) doesn't have a PCC and 2 600mAh batts might, MIGHT last me all day but, I seriously doubt it. meaning I have to carry around chargers and worrying about not forgetting it when I plug it in somewhere... But, with 1 2600mAh batt I should be set for a day or two, so carrying one spare batt instead of a spare plus charger.

In addition I plan on making at least 3 (a 5v, a multi-batt, a stealth) mods using the same batts and attys for less then the cost of an ego batt...

I'm so anxious to start though, I'm probably going to end up paying a bunch for a Li-Ion batt locally (if I can even find them).

Outstanding reason which I can understand... since I'm in the same boat.

Actually, DigitalCiggz.com just started stocking some eGo PCCs. Mine should be arriving on Monday or Tuesday and I feel like a kid flopping around in bed on Christmas Eve.... :D :toast: :p

Which is why I like 16340s since you can use CR123s if you forgot your spares or your charger craps out or whatnot. I've got tons of CR123s around since my flashlights also use them and they're easy to find at Walmart or Walgreens. But that's just my choice. :2c: :)

I find what I miss is the TH. I am currently vaping 36mg of 90-100% PG, on a 650mah. I cannot get a decent TH no matter what juices I try. I am holding the vaper in my mouth like an analog - I can't figure out how to inhale without doing that. I am going to keep working on it. I have not, however, had an analog since my first vape. I smoked for 40 years, 2-3 packs a day. So, I am surviving without the TH but I do miss it. I take antidepressents so that may be why I didn't miss the other chemicals. My doctor said my antidepressents would have a stronger effect without the smoking.

Direct inhaling into your lungs takes some getting used to when you're so conditioned to inhaling into your mouth first, but it's pretty easy. It's not necessary to do it this way, but try inhaling a little air through your nose at the same time as you inhale from your ecig directly into your lungs. Once you get a hang of it that way, you'll work it out and you won't have to inhale air through your nose anymore. I promise you'll get a lot more throat hit that way, so it's worth figuring out if that's what you're after.

BTW, a lot of people have the exact opposite problem and don't know how to do a mouth inhale. A lot of people direct lung inhale cigarettes and don't know any other way - those are usually the people that can smoke a cigarette FAST... It's all in however you learned to start smoking.
