Something is not right-Trident rebuild issues

I just got a Trident clone tonight. I built a dual coil and the Ohms are off. Both coils are made by wrapping Kanthal 32 ga 8 times around a 5/64 in. drill bit. I individually tested each and they were both at 3 Ohms. When both were placed in the atomizer, it came out to 1.49 Ohms. When I dry fired, they both heated up evenly. Once I wicked them with cotton, I tested it again. 2 Ohms. When I put fluid on the wick, it jumped to over 3. Now it is at 2.09. What is going on? Has anyone ever had this happen before.

Did you use a torch on your coils first?

Could be that the screws are down far enough. Current could also be jumping.

Yes I torched the wire before I wrapped the coils. I just checked the screws. Positive pin was loose. It is back to 1.49 Ohms. Thanks for the info.

What he said, it could be that your screws loosened, your coils are no longer touching, you broke a leg off at the post by tightening too much.

resistance will change depending on a hot or cold coil. however it shouldn't jump that high. make sure nothing is touching the deck, and the leads are clipped after the post. Lastly make sure the coils didn't touch up against the post as well only the leads should be touching there.

you'll start running through a similar flow chart when encountering issues.

i had a weird issue in my trident v2 clone where the leg near the post was glowing red. after I was like ..., i realized the leg actually snapped and the current was jumping from the broken leg to the ground and was heating it up.

Another tip is on few clones and cheap attys I have owned the bottom of screws can be rough and cut the wires when you screw down.Couple of swipes with some sandpaper to smooth them out always fixes that problem should you ever encounter it.
