A cleaned atty requires a LOT of juice to get it fired up and working properly. Normally throughout the day Ill drip 2-3 drops on the atty when its hitting weak. After I clean it, it takes 7 or so to start working correctly. Id drip 8 drops on the atty and load up a wet cart. After a couple puffs the harsh burnt taste and throat hit will subside.

exactly the reason i never clean attys , sometimes they work after... most of the time they don't. Like everyone else said , be sure it's completely dry of any water , then add juice.

Yeah, I gave up cleaning attys as well. Just drain them/blow them out once in a while and that's all the cleaning that needs to be done.

I see a reason for some to soak the attys in EverClear or other high% grain alcohol, if you're using juices with sweet flavorings, they do have a way of thickening and clogging up the mesh in the atty. But don't wait too long to do that, if it starts to get sluggish about making vapor it's time for a soak. Then thoroughly rinse, blow them out and let dry, but then re-prime them with a few drops of juice.
But most of the time I just blow mine out, because the liquid trapped in there does seem to thicken or scorch, that's the worse thing. Eventually they will burn out. Be prepared for the worst and have a few on hand. All attys are not created equal!
