Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this in but I know people use organic cotton as wick and they say boiling it etc. what if you were to use surgical grade cotton pads. I got some from my brother in law from his time of being in military and being overseas. He got a big box of surgical tools and stuff that they use in bases for surgery etc. this cotton pad is sterilized and is approved for wounds etc. could using surgical cotton be easier? Well I took out a roll pad which was about the size of half a piece of paper and cut a small stripe size of pencil and made the tip half that. I made a 1.0 ohm coil and put it on RDA. Let me say this cotton is well pressed (if that's right wording) so it absorbed a ton of e liquid in a small stripe I would like to say a good 20-30 drops . vaping some Dr Pepper 0mg e liquid the taste was amazing. A lot better than using silica obviously. A side by side comparison to cotton balls. The pads seem to hold more eliquid and give more vapor. Using the exact same amount (area) of cotton pad vs ball. The ball was more open. Like it was less cotton. It held half eliquid and the vapor tasted less thick. Same amount of vapor but not as thick. I felt more vapor in the padding as well as warmer vape and it didn't give challenge of hotspots like the ball did. This is my own personal opinion. I personally feel that the pads gave better flavor and more vapor than the balls did. This varies on type of cotton and coil and e liquid. This is my experience and could be different from yours.
My main question is has anyone else experimented using surgical cotton pads as wick?
