Trying to find my happy place.......

I have been playing around with ohms and watts more since I got into rebuilding and have found sub ohming changes the flavors too much for me and the throat hit gets a bit harsh.

Tootle puffing does not satisfy my need for thick rich vapor.

Still looking for my version of perfection. I have gotten close with a few higher ohm builds that still get pretty good vapor production, but I just haven't gotten my vape nirvana yet.

Maybe I need to meditate over my builds?

I was a happy Tootle Puffer using cartotanks (2 - 3 ohm cartos) for over two years. I preferred a "cooler vape".

I started rebuilding regularly about a year ago. Initially with 1.5 ohm coils in a Kayfun RTA. Then progressed to 0.6 ohm dual coils on a rebuildable dripper. I likely won't go lower than that with either device as it becomes too warm for my preferences.

My priority is flavor over vapor production, although I do like a nice cloud too. I'm in a happy place concerning my vaping.

I stick with simple microcoils. I've tried and made some of the exotic coils, but nothing is marginally better than a simple microcoil in my opinion.

Oh. I think thick, rich, massive vapor = lung hit. But its the nicotine that is giving the TH. Probably more so than the PG content. More vapor requires less mg/ml. But you limit your vapor intake with mouth to lung.

Yeah, I know I am going after something that doesn't really exist. After 30 some years of smoking, my lungs can't take in enough air to lung hit! Maybe I will find that perfect vape anyway, after all, hope springs eternal!

Oh it exists, but there are a ton of variables!
I'd say, first, you want to find a "topper" that has the airflow options you like. Sounds like you may be like me - I do a "gentle" lung hit. Meaning, I don't need MASSIVE clouds, but I no longer like a TIGHT draw like most cartos or, for instance, an original Kayfun, either.
But on the other hand, I like it a little warm.
So I need something that lets me open the airflow enough for a "lung hit" - but not with big giant cloud-chasing airholes either.

Once you've got something with the right draw, you need the right build. And that might be a preference for single coils over duals, or vice versa. It might mean moving the coil higher or lower.

Keep fiddling, and trying devices that seem like a match - you'll find stuff you're extremely happy with eventually!!

But definitely - airflow and coil make a WORLD of difference it what you're talking about...

Me? Most of the time I use a small atomizer (often a Cyclone with airflow) - I get great flavor, and I open the air all the way for a nice smooth, warm draw (but not too airy - cuz it's a Cyclone). ALso, most of the time, I run a single coil at something like 0.7 ohms - quick response, and a pretty thick warm vape.

Hey Lefty :)

I straddle the fence between the desire for thick, rich clouds, but flavor that I can almost drink.... I've been fiddling a bit with a couple of my kayfun clones, but I also have a couple of Subtanks (which I'm trying to get the RBA to wick higher-VG juices.) on which I'll often run the 1.2 ohm coil.

I DIY, usually "max" VG which ends up being anywhere from 30P/70V to 20P/80V. I know there's a tradeoff between PG and flavor, but I'm sure my "nirvana" will eventually be located.

You sound like me, to me at least.

If you are getting --><--- close with a Taifun then a Orchid maybe for you. They have better airflow but still not super crazy and the flavor is fantastic at about .7Ω and 30ish watts.

I may have to add the Orchid to my "to try" list, thanks for the suggestion.

I wouldnt put a sub setup in a taifun.

When i used one it was around 1.6-1.8 on my provari probably around 8-10 watts

I run around .9 in my kayfun now, but im on a mech where V drop will buffer the power anyways

Plenty of vapor but still cool enough to enjoy

Agreed..... The Taifun is not great for sub ohming. A perfect example of just because you can doesn't mean you should! ;)

I would suggest the Squape Reloaded.

Ring adjusted airflow with a huge variety of options. You can get anywhere from original Kayfun tight (.9mm) to easy lung hits wide open (3.1mm). Swappable decks which make building for virtually any preference super easy. Everything from single small coil to dual coils to max VG and even a deck for a dripping style setup. (BTW, their dual coil deck has an airflow hole and juice channels for each coil. MUCH better than trying to do dual coils on a deck with a single air hole and single set of juice channels)

You can remove the deck while the tank is still full and the tank is glass so you can run any type of juice through it. Flavor is excellent and it can easily handle high ohms and subohming equally well.
