I just got my 2 new Sony VTC4's in the mail a couple days ago. I just wanted to know what voltage do you guys normally charge them at. I don't know if it will hurt the battery to let it discharge completely before charging. Right now the battery is at 3.42V.

Also I am using this charger. It is a couple years old, but I just wanted to make sure it is okay to charge these VTC4's with. Thanks.

That charger is fine. Charge it at either .5A or 1A. You can charge any 18650 battery with the WP2. Switch position 1 is the .5A setting. Position 2 is the 1A setting. Position 0 sets it for USB output and allows you to use it as a USB power supply to charge phones or other devices that charge from USB power sources. They could have marked the charge settings a little better so that a user wouldn't have to refer to the manual to determine how to set it up.

Here's a link to a review of that charger. It should answer any other questions you have. xtar is a respected brand.

Thanks, ive charged them at. 5 before, just started using the 1a charge rate. Hell, I owned it for over a year before I realized I could charge stuff using the batteries. But I know some chargers had issues with over/under charging and I wanted to be sure mine wasnt in that category.

18650 batteries will take a 2A charge, but repeatedly charging at that rate can reduce the effective life of the battery due to heat generated at high charge rates. 1A and .5A charge rates are easier on the battery.

Most ecig mods cut off at 3.4v to 3.5v. As a previous poster said, you can take them down further, but the less you discharge them the longer they live, hence the 3.x cutoff points.
