I recently pulled a old Vapor Flask out and decided to use it again. I had some older VTC4 batteries that I knew were authentic, everything worked fine. So if you remember the Vapor Flask only took genuine Sony VTC4 batteries no other would fit. I ordered some new VTC4s from a well known wholesaler of authentic batteries. The batteries didn't fit the Vapor Flask. Before I call out the supplier thought I'd ask if Sony changed the diameter of the VTC4.

The cells are 18mm x 65mm hence the 18650, the thickness of the wrap makes for the fitment issues.
Sony doesn't manufacture the wrap they use, slight variances in thickness does & always has occurred from batch to batch.
Wrap thickness is not a reliable identifier of an authentic cell.

There are / were at least 3 different 'versions' / manufacturers of vapor flasks, some had no issue with wrap thickness.
Every flask I've seen would take any Sony vtc 4, 5, 5A & 6, most would accept Samsung 22R & 25R, LGhe 2 & 4.
