Sony VTC5 threshold on volts.

Hi guys, new here. I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for. Can anyone tell me when I need to charge my somy VTC5 batteries? I am getting conflicting info from places. I just want to know when I should pop it on the charger to keep it from exploding or discharging etc. I heard 1.5 volts. Can anyone confirm/deny?

I wasn't sure if that was right either so I wanted conformation and perhaps a link with explanation or something.
