@ Southee: On a freshly charged battery (4.2V) and with a 1.1ohm build, your pulling 3.818182 amps, far within safety for that battery. However at .5 you would be pulling 8.4 amps, still 1.6 below the 'limit' but I prefer to stay 5-10% away from my limit, just for safety. VTC5's have a 30 amp limit (I'm talking continuos, not pulsing, by the way) which at 4.2V you can SAFELY build a .17 build, which would put you at 24.70588 amps. People push for VTCs because you can build much lower in resistance coils with them, and SAFELY at that. On top of Sony being an extremely reputable electronics supplier. For about $12/each you can't go wrong. Hope this helps.

I'm brand new to the mech mods. Heard about the Sony VTCs and asked about them at my local vape shop. They told me I'd be safe with one of the E-Fest 10 amp 1600mah batteries and so far haven't had any issues. But I don't want to kill myself and/or my equipment, the first coil I built (which I'm still using until I can get home and try again to get to that sub ohm level) is running at around 1.1ohm. I guess long story short, why the push for the Sony VTCs?

Exactly what he said.^^ Also learns ohms law or at least get an app for your phone and use it when going sub ohm. Staying safe is your best option. The post I made earlier in this thread (#17) has a good link to buy from if your looking for a few of them. That discount helps a lot.

I have 2 of these beauts on their way to me! Look forward to setting them up in my cana 30w clone and authentic Vanilla mod :)

For Cana mod I would get the 3100 purple efest instead. More power, but only 20amps. All you will need for a Cana.

I was told today that Sony doesn't make this battery - hence they are all essentially fakes. This doesn't seem right to me given all the experienced users out there highly recommending them, but I went searching for some way to validate my assumption and couldn't find it. Is this battery listed anywhere on Sony's websites? How would someone "know" that Sony actually makes this battery?
