After a longish thread that I made asking whats up with the ego(note that the first post didn't get worded the way that I intended) I have broken down and decided to start looking into getting one.

Some of the brands that I have been looking at are:
1. Modern Vapor's Lux
2. Totally Wicked's Tornado
3. Janty eGo
4. Mega TRex

These are a few that I have been jumping back and forth to. Any suggestions, comparisons, thoughts? I'm not overly concerned with cost, but I am not looking into trying mods out at this time.

Most people start vaping on the 510 battery. The ego is one of the best. Depending on how much you smoke and how strong of a cig, for me, I almost fell off the vaping wagon until I found 6 v. I tell you this in case 3.7v doesn't do it for you. 6v gives a stronger, warmer throat hit which more closely resembles real smoke. There are lots of vets that vape only on 3.7v so there's nothing wrong with 3.7, some people just need the 6v. If I hadn't found 6v, I'd be back to smoking by now
Good luck and congrats on your choice. I started with a Riva. It's an ego clone but with a bigger battery life

I would not buy from Modern Vapor. They like to sell modified models that are only compatible wit their own parts.

I would not buy again from TW. My first 510 kit from them was shipped with the wrong carts (mega carts) that did not fit in my atomizer. And then 5 months later I discovered the charging cable they included with the SAME kit was actually an Ego (or whatever they call it) charging cable (420ma output) and was responsible for damaging 4-5 510 batteries I owned. That was the one cable I never suspected because it came with the 510 kit.

Janty Ego and Joye Ego same thing - Janty designed and Joye manufactures

Trex is a nice looking unit though I think one reviewer says it hits a bit softer (but I don't know if he is using the same ohms atty on each big battery). Check the video - that is just what I remember him saying. BTW Inferno is just an Ego (supposedly Joye) rebranded and price probably jacked up a bit.

For myself I got a real 3.7v model instead, the Riva 510 kits at Liberty-Flights.com because LF has the latest model from the correct manufacturer and their stock is all new model for the kits, and I know the loose SE batteries are 3.7v (Ego is around 3.3v). I needed 3.7v because I also put my KR8 cartos on it with an adapter and since the slim KR8 batteries are real 3.7v batteries i didn't want my big battery to be less voltage and vape them cooler. If you shop at Liberty-Flights.com, first press the 20% off upper left front corner so you will be looking at the lowered prices.

But if you don't care about KR8 cartos then Ego (Joye or Janty) are great. However some clones are not great.

Yeah, I am pretty fond of my 808 cartos so far. I didn't know that the ego batts had less voltage, I was under the impression that they had more or the same.

...the Egos have more amperage...several more times than any 808 I have seen...a much different thing than voltage...I for one, second the Riva510 from Liberty Flights...which has the voltage and additionally, superior wattage as well....either the Riva or Kgo are probaly your best choices if you don't wanna go with a mod...........

If you get a Riva 510 - get a 510 drip tip and if you want to be able to use a cone over the cartomizers buy a single Riva 901 cone (shorter with wider opening and fits on Riva 510). And fro native 510 cartos, Boge are most popular especially the hotter 2.0 ohm ones. I sue the 2 ohm ones because I share them between slim 510 and Riva 510 (Riva runs them warmer).

That's what people say here. The technical specification on the LF website say 3.3-4.2v. I have both and vaping, I've never noticed a difference between the Joye Ego and Riva. I got the Joye Ego because they offered a longer warranty on the battery at the time- 6 months. Now they're both 2 months so I'd get the cheaper one.

Click the 20% before you shop. The you will be looking at the lowered prices.

To be clear - those Rivas are 3.7v in the same way a mod is - straight DC and the voltage is best in the first 1/2 of the charge. Ego has some kind of switching or regulation - it's like 3.4v regulated and holds that voltage line better. There is info in this thread if you read around before and after this page.

I just got a drip tip for my little Sidesho and their version of the LR atty(standard came with the kit) and the passthrough to try juices. I don't see myself using that small model for much else, and I can sit at home and try stuff out on that then break out my bigger models when I'm out and about.
