Apropos of nothing, but.........

I've been off tobacco for just shy of 2 months now, so you'd think I'd be doing cartwheels around the yard, wouldn't ya? :D Well, noooo.........:(

I've been sick as a dog the whole time. I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but a week after I quit, I came down with bronchitis. After a week of anti-biotics, I seemed better.

A week later, I started feeling like I had a cold coming on. Great, gotta love those summer colds. Sheesh.:grr: But after 3 weeks, I'm actually getting worse. I saw the doctor yesterday, and they're not sure what it is, but I pretty much have the symptoms of pneumonia, but my chest X-rays are clear. So now I'm on a stronger anti-biotic and prednisone. What fun.

I had the same thing last summer, and I ended up spending a week in the hospital. I'd hoped that quitting smoking would have put an end to all this nonsense, but I guess after 30 years, I still gotta pay the piper.

This has nothing to do with anything; I just felt like venting. Thanks for listening. Use your hand sanitizer!:nun:

I have two things to say..lol right, that will be the day!
Anyway..Since you quit smoking, you probably won't get much sicker..I know that when I had a minor cold before I quit, I would get brochcitus and be sick for weeks! The last cold was a breeze since I quit.
Second, You have been working like crazy and I bet not taking care of yourself. Not enough sleep, weird hours, not eating the way you normaly would, so your immune system was at risk..you caught something and got sick. I am willing to bet that cheap beer we talked about that it isn't anywhere as bad as it would have been 3 months ago. Your lungs were clear...did that sink in? Clear! 3 months ago you would have gotten the "lecture" and your lungs would have looked all cloudy on the screen!
Good for you!
And feel better soon!

Send good thoughts that your feeling better... I believe in healing crisis's,, your body is detoxing along with everything else and lowers your immune system...

I hadn't thought of that - I'll bet you're right, that my immune system is a bit lower. After 3 days on the "high-test" meds, I'm already feeling better. Not 100% yet, but better. I'll take it.

Thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts. You guys are great!

I've been working nights for the last week or so, so I've become a midnight lurker!

Seriously, after a week on Levaquin, I'm back to my old piss-and-vinegar self! I was a little concerned about Levaquin, since it has recently been cited in cases of tendon tears, but so far, I've had no problems with it.

Today, my hacking cough is gone, my sinuses have cleared, and I'm sleeping like a rock. Yay! Three more days on the meds and I'm off parole!

BTW, and totally off-topic, I'm getting my teeth cleaned tomorrow. The first time since I quit tobacco. It'll be so nice to have a cleaning last more than 2 days! Before, I left the office looking great, but it never lasted, thanks to my tobacco habit. One more thing to look forward to! Smile, everybody! :D

Rocket,
I am new here but hope all is going well with you- I can attest to that very first post Mary put up in reply to this- Working crazy non stop hours can do you in! Since resigning, I have been sleeping and eating well and on a somewhat schedule- So much better feeling and not sick yet! (knockin on wood) I am brand new to e-cigs also and am probably going to track everything as a "side effect" of e-cigs & I don't want to be paranoid w/ it- I am just starting to think here as the seasons change what should I expect... I hope you are feeling much better - I can't wait to get totally off the analogs- I know it should make a huge difference!

Thanks for all the encouragement! I am back to normal now - better living through chemistry! Even after two months off analogs, I still cough sometimes, mostly if I've vaped too much that day. I do think the PG is drying out my throat, but I haven't had a chance to try to make my own VG juices yet.

I smoked for 30 years, so I figure I'm not going to be breathing great right away. In fact, I may never be able to undo all the damage I did with cigarettes. But at least I'm not making it worse.
