Soooo..... what should a young-ish, not-quite-ready-to-be-a-grandpa be called?

Today was the baby shower for my soon-to-be-born grandson. He's due May 9th. I am not quite 42... will be May 18th. At the shower, they kept running things by me and I scowled at each and every one.

Let's hear some ideas...

I personally am thinking of just having the kid call me "Walrus".

As in "puffing like a Grampus"

Etymology possibly from "grand poisson"

(Grampus was the original name for Orca, sometimes called Killer Whale. But the puffing is a good omen...)

Walrus, Congrats! I don't mean to burst your bubble, but the baby will call you whatever he/she wants! My Grandson called my husband Hey and Me, Bye Bye. Hubby always greeted the baby with Hey Buddy and I was determined to teach the baby to wave bye bye. Of course now we are Grandma and Grandpa.

Congrats Walrus...grands are the best! I tell ya, it won't much matter what you want him to call you...if he is anything like mine, he'll come up with something all by himself LOL I wanted my grandboy to call me Gran...I tried for months...noooooo, it's Kee...doesn't even come close to Gran. But it won't matter, whatever he comes up with will melt your big ole heart...

Grandpap, Grampaw or whatever is culturally relevant for your ancestral nationality. It's not about you, it's about the kids having a normal name to call their grand father.

Grats Walrus!! My name to my grandson is Mosha.. he can't talk yet.. but it's all good.. i had some issues when my daughter was pregnant.. i felt old and didn't wanna be a "granny" - playing shuffleboard and bingo.. .. but now. it's kinda cool.. he is pretty cute and he smiles at me.. Grandpa Walrus does have a nice ring to it.. sounds like a character from a kids book..
