I went thru the same thing, I am Nana, the other grandma is grandma. Now that my grand daughter is about four and she comes thru the front door yelling NANA I am here to see you and runs and hugs you it does not matter what they call you, just that they are there and love you. It is a wonderful feeling. (once you get past the grandma name).

WOW - Walrus a grandpa.

Funny how I perceive everyone on this forum to be really young - like late 20s & 30s. I think it is great. I like GW and Daddy-O, but it really does not make a bit of difference what he/she calls you, as long as she calls you.

Congratulations and enjoy!

PS - it is also fun to see many more people in this thread who have grandchildren.

You will have no issues with any of these, you will just be happy that the baby calls you anything, because when he/she refers to you in anyway at all you will just melt.
and it is not such a bad thing when people say" you look waaaay to young to be a grandfather.

Today was the baby shower for my soon-to-be-born grandson. He's due May 9th. I am not quite 42... will be May 18th. At the shower, they kept running things by me and I scowled at each and every one.

Let's hear some ideas...

I personally am thinking of just having the kid call me "Walrus".
Walrus..........Like you said..........I would go with "Walrus!! Very appropriate!:)The Wiz!

You certain hit the nail on the head.

It just doesn't get any better than the "grands." ;)

Congrats Walrus! You'll melt regardless of what the lil one calls you. :D

I'm just happy they stuck with Nannah instead of MawMaw! lol

Hey Walrus: Congrats! I gotta tell ya.....it'l be cool no matter WHAT you're called! I'm a professional ex-husband, and I was a "grandpa" at the ripe old age of 34 (courtesy of my older 2nd ex-wife)....all told been grandpa in one form or another for the last 16+ years.....

Grandpa......grammmmpa.....gumpa.....HEY....papa....pa......they'll all sound right when you hear them. Not from all the other folks, but when you hear it from that little one the first time. So, let everyone else call ya what they will. They only name you'll really care about is the name your grandchild calls you. Enjoy! (BTW cool RED STICK VAPOR photo !!!!)
