Sore throat and warm smoke

Hello there. My name is Christian and im ñew to this site and to vaping-rookie.

I just bought the istick pico and i have an issue: when i take a vape i couch and slutter and the smoke feels warm and unpĺeassent in my throat. I have tried adjusting the wattage but that does not seem to help so my question is this would it help if i adjusted the temperature or mayby got a new head (i dont know what the head is called) could any of you experienced to vaping-rookie please help me out ? When you say "iStick Pico" I guess you mean a kit with the included tank?

In that case, I would suggest practicing your inhale technique at low power (how low does it go and still make vapor?)

I could not have used that kit at the beginning. There is nothing wrong with it but it's designed for higher power vaping and not everybody can live with that straight away. If it was me (4 years ago) I'd put on a gentle little beginner tank that is instinctively a mouth to lung inhale and start where you can manage to vape without coughing. It took me a year to vape at 9 watts. I didn't direct inhale until I'd been vaping 2 years or more.

Beginners can't tolerate a whole lot of vaper starting out. In my early months I was vaping 1.8 ohm coils at 10 watts. 21 months later it's 1.4 ohm coils at 400 degrees and 40 max watts on a Pico and the same with 30 max watts with a VTC mini. (Higher ohm coils turn power into heat more efficiently.) Probably you are creating more vaper than you are ready for.

I know people who vape at under 10w, some as low as 6-8w.
Truth is (the way I see it) the majority of vapers (non-enthusiast types) could probably vape at half power with double strength liquid.
But, the e-cig 'industry' doesn't exactly try to encourage ordinary vaping because it doesn't sell expensive mods and a ton of e-liquid.

Welcome and glad you joined.
Might want to do non sub-ohm first (you may need a non sub ohm topper). You will get great flavor but the cloud production is not as intense as you can produce with sub ohm'g.
Could look into the pros and cons of sub ohm'g vs non sub ohm'g before you decide which way you want to go. Some folks jump right into sub ohm'g without looking at the hidden ramifications. Successful sub ohm'rs tend to know the ins and outs of vaping. That's why sub ohm'g is tag as advanced vaping.

I just got out the vape box (skip) in the loft. Man, there's some cra.. in there.
Mini Protank 2 (with AFC) might be worth a go as I have 38 SOCC coils deeper in the box.

I'm going take the lot to Vapefest and put it in the PIF bin.
Last year I took about 40 liquids and 20+ clearos/tank/rba/rta.
All it took in return was a poxy mini 'octopus' type dripper.
Jason (Vape Escape) gave me a Ceravape tank..... that's not seen the light of day for 11 months either.

The Ceravape - was it any good? Can one still actually buy coils for that thing?

I think that the thing that let the Protank-style tanks down the most was the farty little airhole in the 510 pin that had to let all the air through the whole tank - IMO the biggest upgrade to that line was the Aerobase V2 - less juice weeping onto your mod as well.

The Aerobase also allowed the Protank 3 to accept single-coil heads IIRC - I *knew* that those dual-coil heads were a ripoff and probably just designed to stop people rebuilding their heads - the even later heads with the 'tin can' surrounding the wicks was *definitely* a move to stop people doing that IMO. What other good reason was there to build the heads like that? It surely didn't make them perform any better or help the juice flow at all well.

The other biggest upgrade of course, was learning to rebuild my own heads, although I never got to try the SOCC(?) coils that the other chap on here is always raving about.

Hi Christian, and welcome.

I'm something of a rookie myself, just about 2 months into vaping. Prior to this I was a smoker though I enjoyed the occasional cigar.

If you're anything like me, it might be the throat hit that's getting to you. I started with just 3mg and the first few draws or inhalation made me cough and choke too. Such a n00b! But I enjoyed it and after a few more draws, I'm fine.

When I started out I was strictly a mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaper but within a few days I was comfortably vaping direct-to-lung (DTL). The kit I started out with was a Wotofo Serpent Mini on an Asmodus Minikin, vaping 23W at 0.7ohms. Currently running at 0.65ohms on a stainless microcoil. Loving it.

I picked up some 0 nic juices and, though kinda bland, is very easy to vape but the first couple of draws of the day usually irritate my throat. But if I switch to a 6mg or higher juice, I cough an sputter like a n00b all over. But you throat gets used to it soon.

So I think maybe it's the nicotine content that's bothering your throat... Try a 0mg juice, that might help.

And stay hydrated; if I happen to be thirsty when I start to vape, same irritation occurs. A glass of fruit juice, soda milk or water and I'm good again.

Hello there friend. Well i have been Vaping-rookie for alnost two mayby three weekend now so im bit new and feelS that it is bit overwhelming ... I used to smoke alnost 20 cigarettes a day now im Down to 2-3 cigarettes a day . For my birthday i got a bluetooth supersmoker e cigaret but decide after a weekend that i wanted a more "fun" e cigaret with more gadgets. Right now i use 9, 12, and 18 mg Nicotine and three brands ego, culami and smokey.dk my e cigarette is a i stick pico. With a mel 3mini head. I think im going to try to use lover nicotine and ask in my local vape shop what a good befinder head could be

Sorry but I find the things youre sating bit confusing do you recommend these tanks for rokkies and if so do you have a site you recommend ?
