Hi ~

I'm a newbie vapor ~ my Fiancee just bought me the Happy ego 510 starter kit.
I found the transition REALLY easy, i went from smoking a pack a day analog to pure vaping now.

The question i have is.. is it common for people to have a sore throat?
Its almost to a point where i can't vape, or maybe just 1 -2 vapes a time =(......
i'm using a 18mg absinthe flavor (mixed by one of my fiancee's collegues @ work)

Any solutions?

edit - after some more forum browsing i think i've found the answer =)

I'll just say "hi" to everyone here then ~ and that i'm really happy with my Happy Vaper ego 510 ~ the battery lasted me 2 days ~

What nicotine level in what PG/VG?

Sore mouth, tongue, throat or lungs is usually medium or high nicotine in 100% PG juice. Nicotine is a skin irritant. PG is thin and its vapor lets through the most flavor, most of nicotine's TH and the most of nicotine's irritation. VG dulls/smooths everything PG lets through and adds more visible vapor. With an atomizer I recommend trying anything from 30 to 50% VG. With standard resistance cartomizers I don't like more than 20% VG (any more and I can feel the drag get degraded) but even 20% will help buffer and irritation.

I could also be dryness - vaping is more drying than smoking. Drink plenty of fluids.

Try some juices one nicotine level lower and juices with some VG in them from real juice vendors.

For your current juice, Michael's Crafts has Wilton Glycerin (VG) with the cake decorating stuff. Walmart should have Humco glycerin next to the rubbing alcohol (and USP Glycerin does not mean all vegetable but Humco has said theirs is all vegetable and some people have used it for DIY juices). Add a bit to your current juice - it will cut the nicotine level and flavor some but make it less irritating.

My tongue was sore and numb with 18mg PG juice (Chinese juice, the kind most hardware vendors sell). I switched to 70PG/30Vg and the soreness went away. PG is thin and lets through the most flavor, the most of nicotine's TH and nicotine's irritation. VG is thick and dulls/smooths everything PG lets through and adds thicker visible vapor.

You don't need DIY. Every good juice vendor lists the PG/VG of their liquids. And just about every good juice vendor offers at least one PG/VG blend. Many juices vendors offer every 10% PG/VG ratio and you select it when you buy the juice. I use juices with 20-50% VG in the atomizer, and in cartomizers I use juices with 20% VG or less.

(cartomizers are combined disposable cart w/ internal atomizer so the juice carto screws right onto the battery. They hold more liquid than an atomizer cartridge, need liqid less ofte, and in geenral provide a more consistent vaping experience for your favorite juices. Boge cartomizers are most popular.)

not wet enough? i'm not sure i understand the meaning behind it =(
i use a cart with my atty and just fill up the cart with the liquid thats given to me ...

Basically I was vaping not enough juice. So I was practically vaping a burnt/dry atty causing my throat to irritate. I was such a newb, and probably still am.

I am just barely getting over a sore throat after vaping for about a week or so. Still yacking up lung butter like a mad man though. But the sore throat from what everyone says and the reading I did ahead of time is pretty normal. I came from smoking almost 2 packs a day of Marlboro Light 100's to vaping 12mg of smoklessimage grape cartos and even that is a little rough on my throat. I'm gonna be trying some lower mg nicotine juice and or even drop to 0mg nicotine with mostly vg. I am only looking for a very minor TH and a decent amount vapor production.

I did that when I first started too :( It tasted terrible and almost turned me off completely. Luckily I'm naturally curious, so I took it all apart to try to figure out how it all works and realized I was doing it wrong. This was on a 510-T with one of those cottony pre-filled cartridges, which still seem to give me trouble if I try to use them. I'm using a clear cartridge now, which always seems to work until it gets too low.
