Sort of box mod questions?

hey so ive been looking at box mods recently and decided to take the plunge and have a go at making one myself, basically i have a 4xaa battery holder, put 4 rechargeable Ni MH 1.2 volt batteries and a box to put them in. my intentions are to just wire a basic circuit with a LED a switch and the batteries all inside this box. so here are the questions
1. do i run the risk of it exploding in my hands
2. do i need a resistor (i wanna run as close to 5v as possible)
3. where can i get a really cheap female 510 connector

Hmmm You aren't likely to have it explode with Ni MH batteries. The female connectors are available at madvapes for some reason the one that is held on with a nut is in the adapter section. So, look there.

Liberty Flight stocks the battery connectors. They are in the UK as well as the US. Unfortunately they only have the connector that you'll have to epoxy in.

you could just take apart unused pv for the connector. I have done that when I had to fix my broken vv. took it off a 3.7v box. I love box mods. Easy to make and easy to fix as long as I can get the wiring right lol.

see ive tried that i got my first ecig ages ago which was like a mini stick type but i noticed a 510 fits in it. the thing will not come out at all :/

Cut it off with a hacksaw blade. About 10mm from connector end.

Cut around the metal tube, not straight through. Stay right at 10mm from end. The one in the photo doesn't look like it was cut even. That's a plastic piece sticking out of the cut tube.
It's just a little battery
A drill can be used to hold the batt. The tube might add some strength to the connector in a plastic box if you leave the connector in the tube.

The extra center pins in the photo are from old cartos.
