Hi everyone My BP is good but my heart rate is to high even before stopping analogs. It's still hi I also can't sleep if a vape right up to bed time so I always use 0 nic after 8pm. Does anyone else have sleeping problems? I'm 5 months vaping, not one analog since I received my kit. So anyway how is your heart rates?

actually i tested last night and if i DON'T vape on my 36mg cart b4 bed then i have trouble getting to sleep - also i tried dripping 22mg instead of finishing my 36mg cart in the morning and it took me longer to become "sociable" as described by my friends/roomates.

seems to me it's just following my former habit of a cig right b4 bed and a cig b4 i even step foot out of bed.

(on a side note - vaping is awesome for that habit as if i fall asleep w/ my PV in my hands i don't burn the sheets...lol)

When I first switched to vaping from smoking I noticed my BP was higher. It took me a few days to figure out what had caused it. Here was my issue.

Most people do not know that some of the chemicals in smoking cause caffeine to have less effect on you. For years I drank 2 POTS of coffee a day. without the cigs the high caffeine levels showed up as high BP and shaky hands.

Initially I thought it was just smoking withdrawal, but when I cut the coffee to a few cups a day the issues immediately ceased.

So, vaping was not the issue, but not smoking was.

That said, nicotine can elevate BP some. It acts similarly to caffeine, so if you vape and drink coffee, sodas, or tea, you may want to lower your caffeine intake.

My BP has been all over the place since I started vaping/quit smoking. It was always consistantly 90-100/60-70. It was never high. Now it jumps around alot.
I think it has just become more responsive to other things now. So many other things can affect it. And of course there are other life style changes that I could make.

My BP has dropped since I started vaping. My lungs are much less congested and really clear most of the time. The the hack cough has disappeared. I still smoke several analogs a day, but vaping has eliminated 75% to 80% of those I used to smoke.

Anytime my BP is elevated, it's usually due to a high salt meal I had in the last two hours. My medicated blood pressure at night (when it's usually the highest) runs around 125/65. My doctor was also pleased with vaping taking away most of my analogs. I even demonstrated it in the examining room. His eyebrows raised when I blew out a stream of USA Mix vapor. I asked him if he smelled tobacco and he said that he didn't detect much of anything in the vapor, especially not tobacco.

I explained about Ecigs and gave him some web sites, including this one to check them out. He apparently was impressed with what he found. A friend who is also his patient told me there was a stack of free electronic cigarette pamphlets that explained what they were and how they worked. He is apparently suggesting the Ecig to his patients for an alternative to smoking.

there's a ton of things that can cause high bp. but I do know nicotine is one of the factors.

I actually have low bp so I'm always consuming things that keep it up to normal like caffine, salt and nicotine.

I would assume it would be best for people who get or have worsening bp to try a lower nic level for all day vapes and have a high nic on standby for those " I really need a nic hit" moments. Especially if you vape nonstop. I'm already doing that but my reasons are that by having one on hand that is higher helps curb the anolog craving.

Mizfit - get your thyroid checked out, its a simple blood test - one of the symptoms of high (hyper) thyroid is a racing heart and (soemtimes) high body temp. Smoking can mask thyroid issues and quitting smoking reveals them - I speak from experience btw and since vaping (and quitting smoking) my thyroid meds have been reduced (some days I take none at all). Mine was almost always worse when I was laying down btw (ie, in bed).
As for BP - mine hasn't really changed - I think Im one of people not much affected by nic as far as BP goes - when I smoked a lot it was still 90/60.

A good idea is to use lo-salt which is a blend of sodium chloride and potassium chloride (the balance of sodium and potassium ions in the blood is used to control blood pressure).

Good to have a caffeine free coffee on hand too to replce some of the caffeine drinks during the day (or make as half and half).
