I'm looking to invest in a mech mod and an rba within the next few weeks to use alongside my Cartotank but need the pros to recommend me some specifications. Here are my requirements:

rba
1. Not too difficult to get going - not quite a beginner level but more intermediate.
2. Good potential for good Vapour production
3. The ability to use multiple wicking materials (not limited to mesh)
4. Preferably with a Pyrex tank, though I'm open to dripping suggestions.

Mech mod

1. Something that looks good standing underneath your recommended RBA
2. That's about it

I'm putting in an overallbudget of £100 (approx $167) for both the mod and the RBA combined.

Thanks in advance. :p

Your budget seems to be in limbo between a clone and a real mod.

I'll say this - If you want a nice starter mod and tank, I have a HCigar Nemesis clone with a Ehpro Kayfun Lite clone and now that I've figured out how to set up the Kayfun clone it vapes very nicely. I think I have invested under $100US.

Nemesis clone $33
Kayfun clone $40
Magnet and pinn upgrade from Fat Daddy $13

Total = $86

You could even lower that a few bucks by getting a RSST, but it is a bit more of a challenge to build.

2-eh pro kayfun lite+($30×2), AGI ($10), dripper..I like the omega from vaping tech ($20), turtleship ($22 from slowtech.. about $40 everywhere else), and atomo v1($20 from slow tech.. about $40 every where else)..v2 if you can find it.. but switch doesn't stick it on bottom, so 0 chance of a v1 firing on table... only difference in v2 is a lock. Boom.. solid stuff.. all grounds covered..

I said agi if you get ...... off ay genesis builds, so you can just use as a dripper..:)

Not mine, but I have 2 of the same setups.

The Natural Mechanical mod with side firing $50

Trusty AGA T RBA $20 or so USA
or $12 on Fast(slow)tech

I've got a Natural and it's a pretty nice mod for the money. Fires every time with very little effort. I use mine mainly with a dripper in 18650 mode.

How about if I hold off a little longer and push that budget to $200-$230?

Would that be more worthwhile do you think?

That depends on what you want to do. IMO, the clones are solid and a great value. I can't compare a real Kayfun to a clone since I only have clones. It may be a case of I don't know what I'm missing, but I am perfectly happy with the EHPro Kayfun Lite. As far as the HCigar Nemesis clone, same thing. It's a solid piece and works every time. So again, it depends on your budget and what you would rather own. Some folks are anti-clone.

I'm usually not a clone advocate...

For your first purchase in the world of "more advanced" gear, I wouldn't advice going all out on anything. $200+ is what you can spend when you know what you want.

I think it would be a worthwhile little investment to put money towards figuring what's most to your liking. Besides drippers, there's almost just two ways to go. Genisis-style or Kayfun-style.

I'd say get a good clone gennie and a good clone Kayfun. Can't help you with the Kayfun clones. For gennies, you can't do much better than a Kraken clone in terms of bang for your buck. Easier to build and much less fiddly than any of the Agas. The Agas can have issues with rotating decks and moving center posts... as well as too much distance between center post and wick. No big deal if you know how to cope with it... but why bother when you don't have to with other atties?

As mentioned above... don't forget batteries, charger and a digital multi-meter. Another reason to start slow with the mods and atties. Get the foundation built for further experimentation.

I ended up going for the HCigar Kayfun 3.1 and HCigar Nemesis as a starting point. It's my first RBA so I took the advice to start with something well-priced until I know where I'm going. I've also bought an assortment of Kanthal thicknesses, cotton, silica and Voodoowool. I'm happy with my decision for now :D

I have the same setup and it is good looking and works fantastic
