I love the spectrum colored tanks, but when i first purchased some for my zau my understanding was that the color was fused into the glass not colored! After using it for a month straight i noticed changes to the outside of my black tank as if it had blotches of something dried on it. so i went to try and get it off with water and what better than a razor to scrape any foreign objects off glass. as i scraped the tank clean, i notice then that it was colored and that the paint was coming off. Yes i was removing the paint job and now i have a clear tank....lol anyway, the tanks are pretty the colors are awesome and after using them as colored tanks you can always go clear if you choose to....

The color and phosphorescent is fused to the outside of the glass at over 1200 degrees. It's permanent but as I mentioned before, the tanks can be etched if someone wants to get creative. I think BI was assuming the color goes all the way through or "into" the glass. You run into tolerance issues using tubing that has color going all the way through. From my experience China boro or anything hand pulled isn't usable.
