Yup :)

Made a threaded arbor to hold the ring(s) in the lathe...

Looks amazing - very nice job!!!

On a bummer note...

Boring out the other set ain't goin' to happen, I'd end up cutting into the bottom of the o-ring slot, so plan B now, have a couple RH sets comin' but I might not be able to use my teal tube, have to wait 'n see I guess...

I am keeping my fingers crossed for ya'....it might be okay, it may just be a matter of the O-rings. Like I said all of mine work perfectly even though most of them are before the improvements made by Mike.

The rings ended up matchin' purdy good to the Russian finish, good enough for me won't have to use diamond compound for additional polishin' as I thought I might :)

Well worse case is I'll end up buyin' another teal, but I'm hopin' it's just a matter of o-rings, nothin' else would look right on my Tardis skinned Hana...

You guys have been busy! Hope EV1 had a great Holiday weekend!! I kinda went overboard on Saturday...Tiger game, Casino and closed the bar....Basically ended up with a two day hangover and the sleep pattern is outta whack. I'm 46 but still have the mentality of a 22 year old at times lol. Carpe Diem!! :D

Hey Spectrum. I checked the web site but didn't see any dimensions listed for your glass. Anything in these dimensions: OD: 21.47 mm, ID: 19.01 mm, Length: 38.93 mm (or close)?

Probably not much help but the closest is #6 (20 OD x 1.8 Wall x 38.0 Long)

Nice! You know I love the photos :D Especially when it's red/white/blue with our flag in the background! I'm a little late but that definitely needs to go in the gallery. Thank you my friend! :)

The biggest problem is that you still have the recovery ability of a 46 year old ;) ... but glad you had fun and enjoyed your weekend!!! :toast:

After a little sightseeing via USPS, my glass for the Mega Aerotanks arrived safe and sound. Thank you for the bonus! :) I finally had a bit of time to set one up, it looks awesome! Even though the center post is screwed all the way in, I still have a super tiny gap, top and bottom, I might have a bit of twist in the rings. In your picture it looked like you had it flush, so I'm still playing with it.

The red looks especially good! ;) I will try to get a decent picture to post. Thanks again!!

My pleasure QRXT! :) I was wondering how it worked out for ya. Think the threads are bottoming out on your Aero causing the tiny gap. I had excess threading when installing the green tank so everything came together nice and flush. Try one of the other colors when you get a chance and see if it eliminates the gap. If not, send em on back and I'll do my best to hook you up :D

Ever have one of those days when you knew you should just stop but you don't and when it's all over, you really wish you had?

In the span of 15 minutes I managed to break 2 of my new tubes, dropped the teal, slipped right out of my fingers  and then I split the orange the whole length of the tube, I made the mistake of forcing it onto the heavier o-rings (which worked for the smoke tube ?) within 2 minutes I hear the faint crack sound  knew exactly what that was....

So now I guess it's time to order a teal and orange again....

Yeah Im still a little bummed :(

Yes that would make me absolutely sick!!! I am not too worried about me forcing one to the breaking point as I don't have much strength in my hands, either grip or force so I should be fine. Now if I have to have the hubs help then it would definitely be broken .

One of my biggest problems right now is the tube I have on my Kraken clone...I was going to change colors and I can not for the life of me remove that tank. After fiddling with it for over 30 minutes - I just gave up and filled it up again . After that 30 minute struggle I remembered why I sold the Z-atty-Pro I once had because I had the same problem. I don't have the grip to hold onto the tank to slide it off the rings...oh well, at least the Kraken clone has the Amber tank on it and it looks amazing with the Gold/Silver combo of the Poldiac clone :)

Update on the Mega Aerotank. I think I've figured out a decent, easy way to get rid of my gaps with the red tube. I am using it right now with no leaks, but I only filled it half way, just in case. If this works out in the long run, no o-rings are needed! (Sorry about the bad pics, I just don't have the knack!)

Here is how it looked with the stacked o-rings. The OD is perfect, but there is just the smallest gap top and bottom. It works, but still the gap bugged me.
GEDC0981.jpg

I was thinking and thinking of what I could use instead of the o-rings for a cleaner fit, and while filling another tank, my eyes fell on one of these little guys. (Mt. Baker needle tip caps)
blunt_tip_web.jpg

The material of the little caps for the needle tips (I'm not sure what it is made of) feels a lot like the material that the seals on the Mega are made of. It is already in contact with juice from the bottle, so I figured, why not! I cut the 'tail' off the ring and tried several different applications. Finally, I sliced the ring down the center, giving myself two rings. One UNDER the Mega's seal, around the center post, of top and bottom pieces and the tube fits perfectly!! Here is how it looks. No leaks so far, I've been vaping it for a couple of hours now. I'm pretty happy! :) I think it looks fabulous!

Okie dokies...gonna need a little help from the "master of fitment" on this one -
wavesmile.gif
Mike!!!!

I got the first order of Quartz kits from FT today and the first thing I noticed was the glass on these were thicker than the RH ones. First I left the red orings on and neither the RH glass or Spectrums even came close...so then I put on the original RH orings, and the fit was a little tighter and probably would have worked, but here's the funny thing, the teal short glass was a little snug, but the amber short was snugger (is that even a word ).

Any way I decided since the height of the FT ones were a little shorter than the RH ones, and I had one with the teal glass that I wasn't happy with because of a gap...I would change them - Bad, bad, bad idea...I ended up splitting my Teal full size tank straight down the side. I should have just left the RH rings on and not tried to force it on the replacement rings and I would have been fine....however, the short teal tank I had fit perfectly on these rings...can you tell I am confuzzled :confused:

The good news is I think it is just a matter of matching the orings to the tank and I will be fine - I am sure I could find the answer to this question, but it is Saturday and I am being lazy and don't want to read back, but please tell me the difference between the glass for the Tarsius kit and the RH kit...if I remember correctly, it was only based on a matter of length?

I need to order another full size teal and I want a full size red too, and maybe a few other things...btw any idea when the Orange DT's will be available? I have two other of these kits coming, one in brass and one black, I wanted to match the orange with the black and would luv to have a DT too......pretty please
pray.gif

Here's a picture of the two together, the FT one with the red O-rings that only work with the glass supplied (I broke one glass getting it apart - ooppsss) and the other is the RH one with the Spectrum O-rings.

The height of the threaded part is definitely different, the FT measures at exactly 5mm and the RH one is 5.5mm

Since I do not have a Tarsius one...I have no basis for comparison.

Sorry you had problems :( Unmistakeable sound when they split

I still need to order my replacements as well, held off a little bit, things have been tight after tuition and plane tickets to get my youngest home for the few weeks of her summer break. I'm goin' to take a serious looksie at the o-rings once I get the new tubes in...

I have 4 Kayfun clones I use for work, was content with the plastic tube but now I'm thinkin' of goin' glass...

I know it was really sad, that was on the Kayfun that I had on my beloved Dragonfly Zmax...but I was just happy that I at least had the nano glass in teal so it still matches! I have about all of my Kayfun clones converted over to glass, was waiting for all of the other Quartz Kits from FT to get here (black and brass) to finish the family before the portrait is taken :)...My Russian's have pretty much taken the back burner lately since I can't match the finish....

Other than those I mainly use carto tanks, but having a heck of a time with those also...seems I have been getting a lot of duds all over the spectrum of suppliers lately.

Hey Elantis and Uno! Sorry for the delayed reply...Took a little trip up north over the weekend :)

Yes indeed...The only difference between the Tarsius and RH tanks is the length. That and they require different o-rings to seal properly.
I'm wondering if that FT tank has a 1.5 wall or does it fall in the altered dimensions from China category lol? Between the 1.2/1.5 walls in stock and a multitude of o-ring sizes I'm confident we can get it fitted. Would you mind sending it in so I can figure out what works best? I've actually had a few inquiries on these FT kits lately and don't have any answers. You would be helping me out along with some fellow vapers out there. Of course I'd send the kit back with some extra stuff :) If you can post or email the OD/Wall Thickness/Length of the stock tank we can narrow down the possibilities.

BTW...We started a tip run today that includes Orange :D

Hey Mike, no need to apologize, you are entitled to have a RL :D...glad you got some time away ;).

I did do some measurements but not all of them, the glass is 1.6ml thick, but I think the actual width of the cap is wider than the RH one but I didn't measure it. I will be happy to send you one to "play" with. I do think it is just a matter of o-ring size.

The orings that came with it are red and work great with the glass provided.
The RH orings give a good seal but aren't snug like the RH ring/your orings/your glass.
But the rings you originally supplied with the RH glass are the ones that split my teal full size.
As stated though I did then use the teal shorty and it fit fine and very snug.

In all china produced items, there are variances even from the same product. Here are the measurements between the two:

Looking at the SS rings sideways as in the picture I posted:

Fasttech................Width 22mm....Inner 18.90mm....Ridge 17mm
Rainbow Heaven....Width 22mm....Inner 19mm.....Ridge 17mm (Ridge meaning where the o-ring seats)

And the Glass:

Fasttech...............OD 22.20.....ID 19mm....Thickness 1.60mm
Rainbow Heaven....OD 22.30....ID 19.30......Thickness 1.50

I didn't measure length as in the FT one I have a nano and the RH one I have a full size.

I will get this out to you asap...Thanks for the help Mike, it is really appreciated.

(And I'm happy :D about the tip run...I needs me an orange tip!!!!)
