If you have a ton of liquid then you really didn't spend more than smoking, because if you stopped spending right now you'd probably still have enough to last you for the next six months (so calculate the next six months in as well).

Thanks for this response mate. That's my exact thinking. I literally have bottles on end because it's hard to suck down a 30mL bottle IMO. I maybe go through a vial of my kanger mini ProTank a day.

However, like I said, I would much rather pay more money to feel healthier than to continue down the path of stinkies.

its a shame cigarette prices are so low in some parts of the country.
Cigarette prices are low all across the country. It's the taxes that make them expensive.

That being said...

Once I quit stockpiling MVPs and batteries (my mailman thinks I'm the supply guy for the local vaping militia, LOL) my costs are gonna be pretty low, thanks to my DIY experiments becoming nearly vapable.

Now, if I can just come up with recipes as good as Five Pawns Grandmaster, Fog Boss Godfather and Cyclops Poseidon...

I quit smoking and started vaping on August 15th this year after 17 years of pad+ smoking. So far I've spent $100 more on vaping than I would have on smoking! Every day is a struggle to not buy more vaping gear. I think I have a problem...

The good news is I now have enough devices and rebuild supplies to last for a year or two, and just ordered my frist diy juice supplies which is enough to last for about a year. If I can stop buying excessive vape gear then in a year I have will save around $2000 which sounds good to me!

Yes start up costs can be kinda high, but trust me, there is a saturation point where even the most avid gadget freak will run out of things left to buy.

I already have a dozen nice PV's, enough different kind of heads to keep me entertained for years, wick & wire in 100ft rolls. Hell my lovely bride even bought me a new freezer to keep my DiY supplies in. And, I haven't even come close to spending that $10,500.00 that I would have spent on cigarettes, pipes & cigars if I had continued to smoke. Fact is I could probably vape for the rest of my life without spending a dime if I wanted to.

You may be paying more dollars vaping than you did on cigarettes but were cigarette EVER as much fun? As for myself I'd have to say absolutely not. Besides, look at all the different vapes that can be obtained, all with different flavorings that make for so many differents tastes. And none of 'em stink like the analogs.
So, even if there were zero health benefits with vaping over smoking I'd be vaping anyhow, especially now that I know better.

Just did an app on my phone to calculate how much I've saved since vaping (45 days), and it turns out that I'm actually spending more money than I would on smokes. I had about 4 packs a week.

However, I'm willing to pay more money to vape just because of the other benefits. Every day feels like an accomplishment, and I feel healthier every day now that I vape (not to mention whiter teeth and no more stink!)

I have so much liquid though, and I keep acquiring new ones all the time. I need to go hibernate with all this juice.
Startup costs can drive your initial pay-back. Then again, I spent $1,400 my first two months going overboard. I stick to a budget that is about $50 less per month than I used smoking. I don't use up even THAT on a monthly budget now. So... I currently have a break even date of May next year, and that may change to Feb or Mar if I keep going like I am.

Put any juice you have in a dark bag in the refridge and they will last longer, but know that your taste buds will change as time goes on.
Try using what you have now with maybe getting one new flavor each month until you find the ones you really like. That will also help a lot.
Since you were smoking that little, unless you rebuild your own coils and make your own juice, you will have a hard time spending less. However, as you mentioned, the health benefits outweigh the higher cost. Once you get a setup you like and some juices that you regularly use, it becomes inexpensive.

I spend more per month on vaping, though it is the cost of the juice. The government haven't put the ludicrously high taxes on pipe tobacco yet, so it is still cheaper. All in all, I spend less than $100 per month on vaping, which is faaarrrrr less than I would be spending if I hadn't switched to pipe smoking. Before the switch, I was smoking a least four cartons of cigarettes. Waaaaayyyyy cheaper for me. The health benefits far outweigh the monetary cost IMHO. Good luck and have fun!
actually, my $16 12 oz can of pipe tobacco here in FL has a suggested retail price of $120 because of tobacco taxes, so I suspect that it depends on where you live.

I would love to get into rebuilding my atomizers, but am so new to vaping that I feel like I should get more months under my belt before starting that task.

    46 days and counting :)
I started rebuilding my Kanger heads at month two following a video by Phil Busardo on YouTube.

At month 5, I started doing my own DIY juice, but I still buy one or two a month from mt baker vapor (MBV on these forums). If not for that, I would not have had to spend ANY money for vaping the past two months.

I just take it one month at a time and see what Quicken tells me when I... ask it to tell me something. You can't predict the future. There are some months when I spend nothing at all. But if one of my favorite liquids goes on sale or a device shows up at half price during a clearance sale that skews everything.

And we're all just... screwed with the Black Friday sales coming. You rookies do know vendors run Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales?

Not sure what nic level you're at but I wouldn't overbuy on juice. I ended up dropping my nic level and had a bunch of 18mg that I PIF'ed. I still have about 10 bottles of 12mg since dropping to 6mg. I've tried to go lower but I guess I'm not ready or I'll stay at 6mg for the rest of my vaping days. It's still way better than smoking.

Luckily I'm at 12 and 6mg, and can use either one and be happy. I want to be a happy vaper at 6mg, but sometimes I just want a nice buzz haha

Damn, i feel stingy. Ive been bulk ordering juice on alibaba for 3 bucks/ 50ml. I use about a litre per year. Been building my own coils over a year now too + no new gear. I guess ive spent about 60 dollars on liquid this year. Oh, shipping too and why not add in the price of all the gear i use, anyways. So, $200 or maybe a wee bit less. Nb considering its 11 bucks for a pack of smokes here! Savings= $3700+
It gets cheaper when you find what you like for sure!
If only i could stop spending that extra cash on pizza....

Since I've been exhausted and have discovered the ease of use of cartotanks and a good device with plenty of batteries I haven't been spending anything on vaping at all....lol

If you aren't all wrapped up in chasing the perfect vape (and the novelty does wear off when real life intrudes), you're just in maintenance mode and it's cheap, cheap, CHEAP.

what kind of carto are you using?

I don't pay attention to whether I'm using the Ikenvapes or the Smoks lately...lol I just grab the short or the long, depending on which cartotank I'm putting it in. I've got cartotanks from IBTanked, Phiniac, Bedazzled, and some from I don't remember...lol

I just ask because I'm using a protank now and was using evods before that. I've never tried those. I'm looking for a better vape, than the "airy" one I'm getting. It's not bad, but I feel it could be better.

I was in the same boat as OP when I first started vaping. I spend soooo much money on batteries, cartos, clearos and the juice! But looking back a lot of that money went to overprices starter kits, juice I didn't really care for, and upgrades.

4 months later I have FINALLY found my perfect setup and only spend about $50 a month. For a former pack a day smoker that's a good savings. I finally found juices that I love and don't feel the need to experiment with different flavors as often. I also rebuild my Protank heads which saves me TONS of money. For example a $25 investment (wire, wick) will allow me to build 100+ heads.

Don't worry OP, you will eventually plateau then decline in your spending when you find the juice you love and the right hardware. Unless you are one of those people who needs every new Mod and delivery device.... then may god help you.

The good thing about Nicotine is that your body will tell you when you have enough, or not enough.
Nicotine is no more addictive (when removed from tobacco) than caffeine and it is NOT a carcinogen.
If you vaped 24 mg nic for the rest of your life, it would be better than smoking.
If you banged your head into the wall 10 times a day for the rest of your life, it would be better than smoking. ;)

I have finally found my juice I can stay consistent on, but it happens to be a boutique juice :(

Haha I am still with my mini ProTank and a Smoov REV, but at my local B&M I saw my Christmas present to myself: one of those big boys.

I just want more clouds to my vaping and while my setup now is pretty swell, it's nothing compared to the B&M store associate's unit.
