No, you don't need to, because the tea bad would be rolled, so their would be good air circulation to begin with.
I wouldn't use a spring mod, because that metal is gonna get reallly hot and either help burn the cart, or the tea bag. I would go with the Lipton Pyramid Tea Bags, they're nylon, so they will not burn, they're re-usable, and the work perfectly! IMO.

I was just complaining about the carts to myself when I stumbled on the teabag fix, it works! It's all about the roll and the fold...try putting a small v at the top where the atty will lay in the filler.....also attempt to line up your bridge with the v you made at the top of the filler material. I have all high bidges now so they really seem to stick up into the v I made in the filler bag. I also found slowing down and giving the bag time to wick some more juice into the area around atty is good. I swap out atty's if one gets too hot so I vape with two compete atty and cart assemblies close by. I reload the cart AFTER the atty has cool down inside, I don't want cold juice hittting the hot or warm atty coil too much and at the first sign of harshness, reload the cart,I stir the juice around at the top to get the air out and "fluff up the teaban a little....that's about it guys, the teabag solved a problem more me....I love it....;)
