So I'm just wondering about the springs in buttons for mechanical mods. I've recently brought a mechanical mod (EA mod clone) and the firing button has a small spring in it... This was springy and perfect but now it doesn't act like a spring... It just moves and don't spring back so would I need.to get a new spring?

Thank you

Hi and welcome,

Did the device get real hot and then after, the spring wasn't springy any more?

The button design is not the best for lower resistances.
If you plan to keep using that style of device, it's better to stay above 1Ω.

Time for a new spring or you may have the option to use magnets.
Search for Electric Angel and button. Google may have some ideas for you.

Cheers

go to a local hardware store, bring the original spring with you, ask the guy/gal at the hardware store to show you the trays of springs... sort thru them and find closest match...
a spring goes "soft" when it has been overheated... it looses its temper ( not as in has a hissy fit) the reason the spring went soft is because the spring carried to load instead of the button shaft/hole contact... this usually occurs when the coil(s) has less "resistance" than the spring and the spring heats up faster than your coil since the button shaft wasnt touching the inside of the sleeve....

Yeh this explains so much as in using duel 0.4 ohm coils in the rda on top... If i make a spring or try to find one I presume I would need a thick "heavy duty" styled spring?

And thank you everyone for input :)

What is the resistance of the atomizer you were using?

The EA isn't made for low resistance vaping.

Well I'm using a mutation x v2 clone with a ea mod clone using duel 0.4 ohm coils so it works out around 0.2 ohm overall which is low but it's my preferred choice of vape.. I'm just gonna make or buy a better spring suitable for the button. I appreciate all the help people :)

You are using the wrong mod.

Electric Angel (EA) mods are from a time when we didn't vape that low.

The mod just isn't designed for low sub ohm vaping.

It will continue to fail, no matter how many band aides you try, and the voltage drop at .2 on that thing would be unbearable for me.

If you like a .2 ohm build, you should buy some gear that will work with those resistance values.
