This is a 0.4Ω coil.

THANK YOU, SeaNap!

and ChrisEU

After making the video, I immediately re-installed my brass shim ( . . . . .. to compare!) . .. and it had the same voltage loss. I will run a 1Ω coil for comparison to other tests/mods/devices . . . . . sometime soon.

Btw: the spring in the picture was in case things were too loose .. . They weren't.

ADDIT: as stated in another thread; I hard shorted the battery directly on one of these 10Amp mini fuses. It blew in about 1/2 second, coulda been a tenth, IDK (my monkeys and mississippis don't count 10ths of seconds)

Alright, here is my full size fuse mod.

All my local pep boys had was full size taps althogh now that ive been messing with it the would probably work with mini's no problem. This is far from done, its more of a rough draft, proof of concept, but its one tap underneath a spring plate from rob (spring cut off) and the top tap going over the top of the fuse with the extra that was hanging over folded back over at about a 45 degree angle. Fits perfectly. I did trim the ends of the full size fuse by about a mm, it was just too snug before i did that.

Results:
3.93V on a ~1.1 ohm coil. 0.26V drop, no other modifications.

All put together.jpgBottom plate.jpgFuse Top Out.jpgFuse Top.jpgVdrop.jpg

Cost me $5, I got 4 taps and 5 fuses. Took all of 15 min to do, still much room for improvement.

EDIT: The pics don't show it but i did put shrink wrap around the + leg of the fuse

WOW, I cant believe you are getting the same performance as your shim :vapor:

(well I can believe it, just excited that it worked so well!)

If anybody is just coming to this thread for the first time, make sure to check out pdibs original mod thread A pdib mod :>P There is a LOT of really good information on there, great idea's, and some technical data, which all led us to this point.

Your's is SO much easier! (Put some electrical tape on those fuse tips, will ya'? . . .. .. ya' nut) :p

Anyway. I just did a 1Ω coil (with my firing pin modification and 510 post de-chromed) .. . . . . .

1Ω coil
AW IMR 1600mAh
Battery charge: 4.07
Under load: 3.94

That there is a 0.13V drop!

Well, actually . .. . . . the reason I had that .4 jobber in there, was cause, with the shim modification, I could vape the first coupla' 10ths off my battery before engaging the shim. This is a little . . .. . transitional . .. . for me. If the fuse is gonna live in there, I'm going up in resistance. (which means no turbo charge halfway through a battery, and no vapin' it down to 3.65V) Thank goodness I've got some 2000mAh batteries about a week away.

That is AWESOME! Great work, looking great! The 10 amps limit suits me just fine, since on a .5 ohm at 3.7-3.8V that's roughly around 7.6 amps.

If not like Seanap said a 15 amp fuse would work wonders too :D.

Yep. I was just gonna say, my .4Ω coil (which is too hot to vape with a fresh battery and such little v-dop) would be like 3.9V (max!) and run about 9.75A. So, a 10 Amp fuse is plenty.

Oh, wait a minute, that's right, I forgot all about that ↓ . . .

So, pdib, taking normal pulls from that .4ohm coil with no problems? the fuse didnt prematurely blow?

I suppose if you *need* more performance, you could step it up to the 15A fuse, which has almost half the resistance of the 10A. :)

. . . . well maybe tomorrow I'll get a pack of 15A fuses, and hard short one of them . .. . .. If it pops before I can say the "miss" in "one-mississippi", that's pro'ly ok, right?
