Ss mesh or cotton

Mesh for me, i was impressed by cotton when i tried it but then i discovered that unlike mesh.. i gotta rebuild it every friggin week and i'm too lazy so mesh all the way.

Also what do u mean ss rope? as in the things that hold up bridges and stuff? cant imagine that wicking very well.

I have to agree here-cotton seems to give a bit of a better taste on my gennie, and mesh can be a little daunting if you don't have your technique down. As far as a "set it and forget it" on my rba I like the mesh.

Tried the cotton today. Different flavor. Cotton flavor I guess. Hated it. Did 4 AGA T2's with cotton wicks and about 9 winds of .28 = about 1.2-1.5 ohms. Vaped them all day then put the SS mesh back. Couldn't be happier.

Cotton wick in coil tension needs to be just right to avoid cotton choke flavor.

I use ss rope with a layer of mesh on top. Hard to beat that set up.

Just to clarify. On my RSST I use the combo rope and mesh. On my Taifun GT I use mesh with an eckowool flavor wick. Both are low maintenance.

For me cotton and its not even close.....bigger clouds, less heat sink effect, better taste and you don't boil your liquids with cotton. By the time I was done with the tank some of my favorite juices would turn 100 shades darker with ss mesh. With mesh I had to adjust the coils daily to get that perfect vape while with cotton I only need to change the cotton once a week. Also with ss mesh you have to go through a whole tank before it starts tasting right while with cotton after a few hits the cotton taste disappears. I mentioned heat sink effect but I should elaborate....with ss mesh half your power goes to heating up the mesh itself....it isn't efficient at all. You can vape at lower wattage with cotton and make bigger clouds compared to mesh. If you looked at these forums a couple years back everyone was using mesh and gennies....now very few people use gennies anymore and fewer use mesh....most people prefer cotton. I still use my gennies but have converted them all to cotton builds. Ofcourse YMMV.

I honestly like the whole-wick heating effecting w/ the mesh. IMO it helps keep the flow of things moving. Namely though, its invaluable when doing dry burns to self-clean it for another flavor.
