SS Wick Question

Hi all!

I saw a video today where the guy shows that we are to roll the wick solid tight. I saw one other person post that somewhere on this forum today. I previously read that there should be a hole in the middle and to put a paper clip through it after coiling to ensure the hole is still good. I am having wicking issues right from the start and am starting to doubt it has to do with my coils. Which one is the right technique? Thanks!

I was having the same problem trying to roll a solid wick. I could only get 1 out of 4 to wick with any consistency. I now roll my wick with a small straight paper clip in the middle. If I leave the paper clip in it makes coiling a lot easier. With #500 mesh, every wick works great.

I roll them solid tight, no issues yet but using a paper clip may help
