From what I've read, I think you can use them as long as you keep them "paired". that is, always use the same two batteries in your mod and charge them together.

Also, check their charge after they come out of the charger and rest a bit. Make sure the charges are close between the batteries.

That being said, I'm no battery expert. Perhaps someone more experienced will come along and either corroborate what I've said or correct me.

As far as how large should the vent holes be. I really don't know other than to say large enough to let out rapidly-expanding gasses.

Two battery mods are designed to have them run in parallel, stacking batteries will put them in series.I can't imagine a scenario where it is "safe" to stack batteries, especially if the mod is designed to use 1 18650. Should a battery vent, the vent holes will hopefully prevent your face from blowing off, but I wouldn't risk it to save 10$. A single 18650 will perform better as well.

I use to stack batteries in Vamo V5 all the time. Never had a problem, but it becomes a pain to track with 2 or 3 or more sets of batteries.

1) Buy all the 18350 sets you plan to use at the same time

2) Label your batteries in pairs. i.e.: 1A 1B 2A 2B etc.... These pairs are now married and are only to do everything together.

3) Always use the same pair at the same time.

4) Always charge the same pair at the same time.

5) Measure the voltage of both batteries after charging. They need to be the same voltage, or very very close. If they are way off, one will pull from the other and over discharge the lower one possibly causing an overheat condition.

6) Rotate the batteries everytime you use them after a charge. If you put them in your mod 1A 1B, the next time you put them in you would go 1B 1A.

If either battery shows signs of wear, replace both. Never mix and match pairs.

I did it because I could, and followed the above with no problems in a mod that supported it. Then it got old and went for 18650's for simplicity. Much happier now.

I'm just trying to get a good idea of everything in the vape world although I don't have a tube mod.

How "unsafe" is stacking batteries in a tube mod actually?
I read that if you have large enough vents that it's okay?

What exactly is "large enough" vents?
Pictures maybe?

Thanks!

Stacking... in what tube mod?

Safety issues aside, RDA's and RTA's for a mechanical are designed around the current and voltage level of a single battery. Stacking batteries in a mechanical won't increase the amount of current, and trying to vape at 8 volts won't be a pleasant experience.

but dont these hi powered hi watt boxers do like 8+V I think I remember reading one going to 10V...

I am not 100% about what boxes do what, but I would believe there are some that could fire at 10v. but those are regulated, and typically take 2 or 3 18650s or 26650s. you can vape at high voltage, I see a ton of people running unregulated series boxes at 7v+ in local vape groups, it's not that the rdas are only built to handle a set amount of volts, but rather it takes the user to understand what they doing enough to build their coils appropriately. I also know that some of these high power boxes wont just go up to 180w, you have to have an appropriate set up to get that power from the device

An older Vamo like the V3 came in a kit with 2 18350 batteries a charger the mod and an I-clear 30 style clearomizer. So stacking was the way to get those to really perform well but with like the V6, V7 stuff where they are 20 and 40 watt devices it requires the use of a single 18650 cell that is a high drain capable of 20 amp continuous discharge. The days of stacking 18350 cells is over. Never stack anything in a mechanical mod unless you want to vape a grenade and blow your face and hands off.
