Hi guys:
I have ordered a Troy2 rda from Fakir's mods. They really like Genesis-type stuff over there, and and the only pic of it built I have ever seen shows it wicked dual vertical SS mesh:

I have never wicked SS mesh before and I have some questions, but I have ordered some mesh and I'm going to give it a try. I watched the videos, and I think I can handle the heat-quench x 3, roll, heat-quench x 3 prep for the wick. However, I was unsure about the grade of mesh, so I ordered 400 x 400, as this was right in the middle of the available grades. Is there some other grade that will be better? (Bearing in mind I haven't ever seen it yet, so I have no idea how much air it's going to provide. I like flavor and cloud attys both, though, so I can build it either way.) Next, every SS mesh wick I have ever seen used spaced coils. Is that a requirement? I don't like spaced wraps much; that's a big chunk of the reason I gave up TC wire.

Over the years I've tried numerous mesh sizes and decided the 200x200 suits me best. Most folks use spaced coils because it's easier to cover the distance from positive to negative connections.

cautionary note: don't over oxidize your mesh, it will create a metallic taste that takes a few ml's to get rid of.

I'm riding along with suprtrkr trying to get a grip on these new genesis atomizers.
Lol, ikr? Why would you want a topper guaranteed to leak if it falls over? Still, the Genny people love 'em, and I'm smart enough to understand there's a reason for that. I mostly bought the silly thing because a)it was on sale, bundled with the mod, b) it's a true hybrid dripper and those aren't easy to find, and c) it can be wicked rayon, the way God intended, with no problem. Having one able to be wicked SS is gravy, so we'll just have a smack at it :)

I'm mostly curious. The folks that like the genesis seem to like them a whole lot. There must be a reason.

I rolled my first mesh last night. Next time will be easier I'm sure.

It IS a different vape, seemingly offering the advantages a tank with the closeness of a dripper. It is like a bottom feeder with a hard bottle.

I'm looking forward to it :)

It takes far more patience and effort and know-how than other methods. It's the cleanest taste I've experienced. Doesn't require sub-ohm and lasts quite some time.
So I read. The time doesn't bother me. If I can make it work :)

FWI, the 200/250/300/400 is NOT a grade of SS mesh. The # refers to the size of the holes in the mesh. It's the number of openings per inch. Lower numbered mesh tends to flow thicker juice better than higher numbered, and vice versa.
I was aware of the mesh numberings. If "grade" is the wrong term, apologies. And thank you.

I still prefer mesh but, so few rda's are designed for mesh and I use bottom feeders on the go exclusively. Too much of a tilt and you're cleaning. Rm2 was great for mesh.
Use tobeco origen mkII clone at home. I built a single mesh using the oversized cotton hole. 4/5 wrap of 26g .7 ohms. Best damn vape I've ever had. Great tank.

Built my goblin with mesh. Really can build anything with mesh.
