Some Questions about the SS mesh.

Been looking at the pictures an I see that some times people put the SS mesh between the wick and the coils. I just cant get my brain to figure out why the mesh would not cause a short...keep the coils from working...path of least resistance.

Also what is the mesh doing to make this better than just coils and wick?

Thanks All.

Don't know exactly what you are referring to but it sounds like a genesis atomizer (also found in hybrid devices like the Zenesis, iHybrid, and Orion... Just to name a few) A stainless steel mesh is rolled and put in vertically into a tank. Then resistance wire comes from the ground screw wrapping around the mesh and then to the positive post.

If this is what you are talking about then your logic is correct. It should short. Except that before rolling the mesh it is oxidized by torching the heck out of it with a butane or propane torch. The carbon oxidization layer insulates the mesh from shorting out.

So why all the extra work, right? Well, SS mesh provides a cleaner more full flavored experience. SS works because the mesh is very fine and uses capillary action to wick the juice. Hope this helps.
