I was wondering if you could use stainless steel wire as a coil wire instead of Kanthol wire? I know why they use kanthol but I'm curious about SS. Will it heat up properly? Does it have the same resistance?
No. It wont work. It would heat up but there is so little resistance that either the coil will "pop" or your battery will blow.
You would in reality be causing a dead short to the battery..
Dont do it.
Actually, stainless steel is a poor conductor compared to Kanthal, which is composed of iron, aluminum, and chromium. Stainless is composed of iron and chromium, but in different proportions than the Kanthal (and without the added conductivity of the aluminum).
