magnets shouldn't stick to the ts or most of the 3XX series steels. if the ts were nickel plated brass it would probably rub off in spots as much as it's been passed around and polished. it would actually be heavier than the steel version too, noticeable in hand. if anything it's the end cap, possibly telescope, CT, etc. that could be nickel plated from earlier batches or just mixed and matched.

EDIT: para, i get what your saying though, the ss would have a mild magnetic response, noticeably different from aluminum or brass (no response).

I don't have a super duper machine like the pawn shops or a degree in theoretical physics, I just stick a magnet against the tube. If it sticks, it's a really good chance it's the SS model.
In Texas magnets don't stick to aluminum or brass. ;)

I've been to Texas -- there is the possibility that it is in an alternate universe!!!

The SS's heft gives it away....:)

If it's their first GGTS and have little knowledge of past models I can see how they can get confused. The point I'm making is do their homework instead of making all kinds of assumptions....chances are the question has been answered a dozen times on the forum. "Search" is your friend.

Thanks dspin, I feel better now. I was 0.01% worried.:D

Loganmt : I will buy it back from you, no problems...plus shipping.

You should talk with the seller.

So? Posting a note on a message board validates the information as factual?

It's poor form to post a question in an accusatory manner when you don't have facts.....really poor form.
No way! I love it. You can't have it back.

Also, I was in no way trying to sound accusatory. I was simply concerned when persons who I assumed would know what they were talking about told me that it wasn't stainless. However, one of them was also convinced it was a musical instrument.... so if that tells you anything....

I am now 100% certain that they were wrong...and that my #796 is indeed stainless.

O please.....You take a metal tube that is totally unknown to them and they do their best to be cautious (if they err it's on the side of caution)...then complain when they got it wrong....and then post the following.

Is the stainless steel GGTS really stainless steel?

If you paid for a metallurgical analysis and they got it wrong you have a legit complaint; but I'm betting you didn't pay the 100 bucks for such a test.

I'm glad you are happy, but drop the back tracking on your original post.

I don't really see the point you are trying to argue. I never accused anyone of anything. I was not even complaining. I simply asked a question. If you are trying to stir up drama... there isn't any to be had.

log, I am happy that you got what you wanted and not something else. Keep vaping buddy:)

Thanks Imeo! Same to you...

And I really meant no harm in asking that question. I don't really know what I did to peeve Para off so much that he felt he needed to add me to his ignore list.... But anyways.

Please pardon my ignorance. I'm new to GG's.

Thank you to dspin and everyone who was helpful!
