I like the grooves too. It gives it character. Definitely not as deep or obtrusive looking as the pictures suggest. Maybe the chrome and black chrome ones make the grooves stand out. On my SS, they're subtle.

Ed101z,

I thought the same thing you said regarding the extra coils. Seeing as how the Protank is glass, it most likely won't hold the flavor/smell of other juices. I can never get the smell out of plastic tanks no matter what I've tried - boiling, soaking in vodka, soap and water, and combinations of those. I'm thinking little ziploc bags for coils used for different flavors.

If the Protank works as well as I hope it does, I may have to get Protank minis.

That's why I don't favor Tanks that are plastic. Pyrex Glass is the way to go. Wouldn't even invest in ziploc bags. Glad saran wrap should keep them from drying out.

Do you have any issues screwing the Protank on the Vamo V3?

I'm not sure if it's because of the stainless steel finish or something else, but the groves in the body actually look good to me. They are rather subtle, not at all like they appear in the photos.

Harsh product lighting.

Most everyone who has bought one says "The grooves look pretty good, actually".

It doesn't thread on right. It wobbles a lot until its tight; then it wobbles a little bit. Definitely wont be taking it out of the house. The Evods wobble a bit going on too, but they're pretty steady once they're all the way on.

Now I know why a lot of people cross-thread their tanks. Gonna look into some adapters.

The beauty ring fits and definitely helps stabilize the Protank. I have to remove the Vamo's top ring, screw the beauty ring all the way down, screw down the Protank, then loosen up the beauty ring so it fits snug under the Protank. With that, there's no rocking.

Unfortunately, I haven't filled the Protank yet. The FastTech Evod clones are doing so well that I'll wait till I've got some sit down and relax and compare time on my hands. With a 2 1/2 year old and a 4 month old, who knows when that'll be? Yet another worthwhile joy of parenting.

It's the only 510 device I have, so maybe the Protank is the reason and not the Vamo. However all 3 of my Evod knockoffs also wobble while threading (eGo threads), so it leads me to believe the Vamo's eGo threads are a little too small and the Vamo's 510 threads are a little too big.

I'm tempted to get other eGo and 510 threaded devices to see how they'd fit. It's quite possible that I somehow got 4 delivery devices (3 of them are the same model) that were slightly out of spec and the Vamo isn't, but the law of averages isn't exactly in the Vamo's favor right now.

It's genuinely more of an annoyance than a concern. As long as I'm careful, the Evods are fine. As long as I'm careful while threading and use the beauty ring* with the Protank I'll be fine too.

*Not to sound the wrong way, but where do they come up with these stupid names? I know things don't always translate well, but wouldn't it help to have a native English speaker to consult with regarding naming and more importantly package literature?

Tried the Protank. I like the Evods more. The Protank has a slightly cleaner taste, but the draw is too airy. I'm using the beauty ring, so putting my fingers over two of the air vents/channels/whatever helps a lot. I think I'll plug those with some Blu Tak or similar. If that works out the way I hope, I'll probably like the Protank more than the Evod.

Edit: now that I've tried 18350 mode, maybe the Vamo will be easier to take out. Just got to find something to carry it in. Maybe a cigar case? I need to protect the heads while in my pocket. Please - absolutely no lanyard recommendations! No belt clip either. I carry my Triton setup in an epi pen case which holds the Triton perfectly. If only I could find a larger diameter epi pen case.

Try looking around for a MagLite or other flashlight sheath. Just a thought...

Do anybody know where I can buy the Vamo V3 extensions pieces separate, I want to be able to use 2 or 3 18650 batts

I'm looking into Stacking 18650's as well. :)

My God man, what are you going to vape, JP7?

The thought of Stacking 18650's is no different than Stacking 18350's. The Vamo is More Efficient, and More Accurate in it's Outputs with Stacked 18350 Batteries. Stacking 18650's simply means they will last longer per Charge, with the same Advantages of Stacked 18350's.

This PBusardo Video is about the Vamo V2, but it covers Stacked Batteries very well, and WHY anyone would want to use Stacked Batteries.
A PBusardo Review - The Vamo - YouTube

Dont use 3, you will fry the thing. I am being serious, not joking. The battery will be putting out too much power and youll fry the PCB.

This is TRUE. You can only Stack Two 4.2V Batteries.

This talk about the 510 and eGo threads on the Vamo V3 is disappointing. I haven't ordered a Vamo V3 as yet, but I have a Wooden Box Mod that only has a 510, and things are loose and wobbly on it too, so it appears that the Vamo V3 may have something of a substandard connector. I was hoping the SS model would be better. So it's either some kind of Flow Adapter, 510-to-510 Adapter, or a Beauty Ring, with a Beauty Ring likely being the best option.

It was asked where the term Beauty Ring came from. This comes from the original eGo-T Battery design. When using a 510 Atty Device, which stops at the 510 above the eGo threads, leaving the eGo threads exposed, the "Beauty Ring" covers the outside eGo threads, to make the overall Battery-to-Tank-look appear better. That old name stuck. Some of them help to Stabilize larger Tanks as well, like the ProTank one does.

But I'd have to agree that a Consultant, who knows and understands English, rather than a simple, and often overly simple, translation, would be much better for Manuals, and new Names for items.

So, if anyone finds a source for a Tube or Extension that would allow Stacked 18650's to be used, please post it. I'll do the same if I find something.

As for a ProTank being too Airy, I've read that EVOD Heads will make that better. They fit the ProTank, but will tighten the Draw.

Evods and Protanks currently use the same heads. My Evod heads are shorter than my Protank heads, so they're different.

The airiness of the Protank wouldn't be a big deal, but it ultimately results in less flavor to me. When I cover two of the four air inlets everything is better. Gotta get some Blu Tak.

Even without covering the air inlets, my juice tastes a bit cleaner in the Protank. The Protank is really growing on me.

This is by far the easiest (non permanent) draw fix for the Protank, i dunno who originally posted it but it should be a sticky with all the people who have draw issues.

Remove protank and take a few inch long piece of dental floss and wrap it around the very bottom of the shaft, covering two of the holes, trying to make sure the 1 hole remains visibly open while angling the floss toward one of the airflow slots. (SEE PIC)

IMG_1370.jpg

Screw the tank on the battery while holding the floss ends tight (SEE PIC) and then use finger nail clippers to trim the floss thats sticking out of the airflow notch, after clipped its barely visible. Problem solved.
