I have compiled a list of things that should be done to help you from infecting your self with a virus or bacterial infection while vaping.

Many people refill their carts using eye droppers, tweezers, paper clips, syringes etc.
In a perfect world all these items should be tossed after a single use. Since we all use these items over and over I would suggest a standard set of guidelines to make this practice as safe as possible.

1. Wash your hands throughly for at least 15 seconds using an anti bacterial soap. Pay paticulair attention to the nails and the nail bed area and don't forget in between the fingers.

2. Glove up! Use disposable latex free hospital type gloves.

3. Throughly clean your work area with a disinfectant.

4. Before using any metal objects wipe them with an alcohol swab and allow to air dry on a clean paper towel.

5. Wipe all batteries, mouth pieces, attys, inner carts (exterior surface) with a alcohol swab and allow to air dry on clean paper towel.

6. After every thing is clean and ready to go remove gloves, wash hands again, and re-glove (a new pair)!

6a. Clean inside of inner carts and inside of mouth piece with a Q-tip dipped in 91% isopropil
alcohol. Use vinegar if the alcohol bothers you. Set aside and let air dry. About 10 minutes and the alcohol will completely evaporate, if you used vinegar use a dry q-tip to speed the process.

7. When your done refilling rinse all tools used including syringes, needles, paper clips (these are cheap toss em) tweezers etc under the hottest tap water you have.

8. take a clean 2 ounce shot glass and fill it about 2/3rd's with 91% Isopropil Alcohol use this to rinse out the inside of the needles, syringes, droppers etc. The alcohol evaporates very quickly and will be gone completely after step 10. If this still bothers you use vinegar.

9. Soak all items used in the refill process in a alcohol or vinegar bath for a minimum of thirty minutes.

10. Pre heat oven to the lowest setting it will go. On mine that is 170 degrees F. Place a clean towel on a cookie sheet to protect the plastic items then place the items to be dried on the towel. Dry in oven for at least 20 minutes.

11. Before handling your now clean tools after drying repeat steps 1 and 2. Place them in a new zip lock bag or a clean, air tight container of some kind.

If you find this all to cumbersome at least wash your hands and wear gloves. Bacteria loves the warm moist environment of the lung tissue and thrives there.

Stay healthy, I'm all ready over worked!

I just got out of the hospital with sepsis with pneumonia which is a bacterial infection that got into the bloodstream. I really did not realize you could get any virus or bacteria from these instruments. I never clean them. This could possibility be the cause of my infection. Although I was in South Carolina when I got sick and had not cleaned for done anything to my ecig stuff for over a week when I got sick. But just in case I will follow your suggestions.

I have often wondered if maybe I should regularly clean out my carts (disinfect), because I use the same cart for days, refilling along the way. There is a small recess in the cart that is a perfect place for germs to gather and multiply. I also wonder if this could be the cause of some peoples' problems with coughing and sensitivity to PV's altogether.
Thanks for the tips!!
