Did you see the posts where people were pressing it out - using either a drill press or a wood-working clamp and a dowel? I haven't needed to take mine apart completely yet, but I plan on using one of those methods when a standard alcohol/water rinse stops working. My success at hammering metal parts from plastic is pretty low and these are too good to waste.

No I haven't, but that sounds like a good idea. Where might these posts be found? And I agree, I would hate to damage anything on these, because I absolutely love them so far.

In this forum (now on second page) titled "To disassemble your Stardust you will need the following". Sorry, but I haven't figured out how to link back to another thread. It's on about page 3/4 where ZoiDman mentions he successfully used a wood clamp to press out the stardust innards (rather than a hammer).

Oh, okay, thanks, I will check that out. And now worries about the link.

yes it came and also while not as residuey as the natural 420 it was still going to be a issue unless washed aggressively and for a while, so i asked the company to add less of the main ingredient, waiting on samples

Less 420? I for one would not mind a little extra 420.

Sent from my Vision TOX with my Stardust!!!

BTW - I used one of these and a piece of Dowel Rod earlier today to Press out the guts of a Startdust.

I really wanted to revise the original post about disassembly of the Stardust, but a mod would have to do that.

A woodworkers clamp will work just fine but you may have better success using a C clamp. Woodworkers clamps have a little more play in them, C clamps are used in metalworking and are a bit more rigid. But use whatever works for you.

A small Hobby Vise would work Great Also. And it is not a Bad Thing to have Laying around.

They come in handle for All Kinds of things like Holding a Pin to wrap your Coil Wire Around or Gripping a Stardust to Dremel of the Skirt so it can be used on a Mod without and 510 to 510 Adapter.

You think you could describe your bar clamp and dowel method? does it make a difference which way you place the Stardust in the clamp and did you cut the dowel down to size? Also, I destroyed one of my Stardusts' silicon caps. The post it sits on pierced right through it. I will say i was experimenting a little trying to find other items that may be helpful in the process, but needless to say, I failed

Sure...

I cut a piece of 1/4" Diameter Wooden Dowel Rod about an 1" long.

Then I Removed the Drip Tip and used a Dental Pick to remove the Silicone Seal over the Center Tube. Be sure to not drop the Tiny Metal Flange that goes inside the Silicone Seal.

I then put the 1/4" Dowel Rod into the Stardust just like it was the Drip Tip.

Here's the Road Side Sobriety Test Part. It helps to have the Clamp Already adjusted so that the Opening is Just Larger than the length of your Stardust with the Dowel Rod in it.

It doesn't matter which way you put oit in your Clamp. For some Unknown Reason I want the Stardust to be on the Side of the Clamp that Doesn't Move.

Put everything in your clamp and Slowly tighten the Clamp, either Bar Clamp or C-Clamp until you feel the Center Tube move. At this point, the Center Tube has been Broken Free. Keep Tightening until you feel some Resistance. Or Move the Stardust to a Dead 510 Battery, Screw it on Completely and Wiggle the Tube. It should just fall off in your hands.

If yo don't have a set of these yet, I Highly Suggest you do.

why would vodka work better than vinegar? I use vinegar to clean A LOT of things and keep it around the house which is why I asked. I don't drink vodka and have none here. LOL!!

I don't think Vodka works better than Vinegar.

Vinegar is a Great, 1,000 and 1 Product.

taking everything apart makes me a little nervous. COuldn't soaking it in white vinegar, rinsing with hot water then a dry burn do the trick?

Give it a try. Taking it apart to clean and dry burn is easy as pie if done as shown in the video. I just use a pair of regular cheapo pliers and hold it with the rounded part, no tape.

Zoid, do you use vinegar straight or diluted? I'm thinking of using it next time I clean a batch in my ultra-sonic instead of distilled water.

I use "Household" Vinegar straight. It's 5% Acidity.

I have some 20% Acidity Vinegar but I'm hesitant to use it. 5% does what I want it to do and if I forget and leave a CE2 soaking overnight I haven't had any problems.

You're still going to need to do a quick Dry Burn even after soaking in Vinegar. But most times it is just a Small Wisp of smoke instead of a Billowing Rolling Cloud I get when I don't soak.
