Hello, I have been smoking most of my life and have yet to even see a PV in person, but I have spent the past couple days here researching and I think I'm ready to make an educated purchase.

I have decided on the Riva 510 lite 900 mah bundle from Liberty Fligts.

I don’t know if I want to go the cartos direction or not but would at least like to try them as well as being able to use the other methods. I currently smoke menthols and plan on getting a menthol flavor but would like to get other flavors as well. I’m not exactly sure what all the components do but am willing to order extra or add to what I may need.

Please let me know if you think this is a good choice and what all I may want or need to add to my order.

All replies will be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,
Taphandle

The Riva is a solid PV and I think youd really like it. I have an Epower, and normally recommend kGo, Epower, or Riva for newbies. Their all 3.7V PVs with 510 connections. Their all affordable and give a great vape.

If you didn't want to use cartos, what were you thinking of using? Cartos are def the way to go and are a lot better than an atty and cartridge. Cartos hold a lot more juice and are a lot more consistant.
I recommend getting some Boge 2.0ohm cartos to start bc they are easy to fill and work really well. I use the Ressurector cartos and they work awesome on the Epower, kGo, and Riva. They are 1.7ohm and give a great vape. They do hold almost twice as much juice, which is really nice, but that also makes them a little harder to fill correctly when your just starting. I would get some Boges to start and that will get you comfortable with using cartos and learning how to fill them correctly. Then you can always try something else later

i would recommend a tube mod, like the roughstack, bolt, goldrush, or blue lightning. all available at madvapes. i love the higher voltage, makes switching from analogs to vaping much easier, i have switched 6 of my friends off of smoking with the maxi roughstack at 7.4v. they all love them.

Welcome to ECF taphandle. The kit that you are looking at is a good place to start. As you stated, you've not had the pleasure of seeing or using a PV so it's important to get one and get started asap. Cartomizers are really what you'll end up with sooner or later. Most do. So, it may be wise to get a pack or two and learn early on how to fill and use them.

Another option for you would be a carto tank. The tank is just a container for your juice with a cartomizer submerged in the tank. The advantages are that refilling is not as frequent and there is generally little chance of ruining a cartomizer from it running dry. This unit would simple screw on to the top of your battery in place of your cartomizer or atomizer.

Something else that is very important and can greatly effect your vaping experience is to drink a lot of water. Vaping will dehydrate you as the base liquids used in the juice are humectants. As vaping is not smoking thus your technique used to vape is much different. The way you draw the vapor into your mouth and lungs and the length of time that you draw all have a bearing on how enjoyable it is for you.

Juice itself is a whole other animal. Ask 100 people which one they like and you'll get 100 different answers. It's a great journey chasing that perfect juice and most of us are still on it. Enjoy!

My first PV was a Joye Ego, 2 boxes of boge 2.0 cartomizers, 2 drip tips and about 30 ml of juice. I got the same juice in 2 strengths so I could mix them to find my strength. Kit from Liberty Flights, juice from nhaler. Start up was about $70.

It's a fairly economical way to try out vaping. You'll get a solid kit with a good warranty. It's a good starting point without investing too much money in case vaping isn't for you. If it is, you can pick up tons of accessories for it from tanks to different cartomizers, bigger batteries, etc.

I'm still using that setup 90% of the time.

For 3.7 I think you should check out some Boge LR 2.0 cartos, Smoktech LR dual coil cartos, and an atty/cart. This way to can check out the spectrum to see what you really like. Basic resistance cartos are alright, but most are going to suggest LR, especially with a regulated 3.7. With those cartos you get to check out regualar low resistance (makes even the 3.4 ego preform well), dual coil (makes the 3.7 shine over 3.4 so much), and an atty/cart just so you can try it while getting the chance to check out dripping.

Biggest thing is to make sure you have at least 2 batteries, 3 would be ideal, and some samplers from a few different suppliers so you can get a good spread there too. Sorry if that was a bit much, but really it's two different types of cartos and an atty, this would really give you the best set up for checking the basics out.

I didn't like their juice at all. I do like everything else about Liberty flights, but not the juice. I just did a board search and read a bunch of reviews for a juice like Nuport and happened to really like the juice. I got lucky. I wouldn't say it tastes like a Newport, but it's pretty good.

Thank you all so much for the replies. Your posts have enlightened me a great deal.

I will be adding the 2.0 Boge cartos and drip tips. I want to add a tank but the site is out of them right now.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the drip tips or wich one I would need?

Thanks again, I really hope this venture works for me.
