Started with clearos - not sure about cartos

So I started about 3 weeks ago on an Ego-C upgrade (the passthrough 950) and the Stardust CE4 and Kanger T2 clearomizers.
The clearomizers suck. They both leak pretty bad, and the Kanger T2 actually has two visible cracks now. As a side effect of carrying the PV in my pocket, I smell of whatever juice I have loaded, too.

Is there a clearomizer that does not leak? And since clearomizers are clearly so convenient (fill it up, and keep going for a while), why do people use cartomizers?

Also, why do people use atomizers?

Lastly, what's a setup that uses a "tank" - I think a tank+something might be a non-leaky resolution to my clearomizer crisis :)

Thanks!

I've never had issues with clearos. Are you using a "hot" juice that is known to leech the plastic on some of these clearos? That's generally what causes the leaking.

You might be interested in a Vision Mini Nova Tank and grab the metal tank tube along with it. MUCH better for abuse caused by pocketing your pv.

Some people simply prefer cartos. Some claim they taste better ... some claim they taste worse. You can always buy just one and make that decision yourself.

Also, why do people use atomizers

there are two types of atty.
one is for dripping, as in 3-4 drops, puff puff repeat. good for testing flavors. without wasting any or having to clean a clearo.

one is a tank type system holding up to 3-4 ml of juice. the reason peeps like atty's is when you find the right one the flavor simply rocks and most of them are rebuildable usually costing very little in supplies and almost nothing to throw away like clearos/ clearo heads or carto's.

I'm a tank user. It is dependent on having good quality ss replaceable cartomizers. Pre drilled cost more than drill your own plus drill your own can deform them enough to to slide thru a good tank properly so start out with pre drilled that small hole with no slight bulge around them. Single hole is good if you use a thin juice, don't vape hyper heavy and do periodic cold draws to keep the inside of them wet. Sometimes I even drip several drops to "prime" it with juice from the top since the juice comes thru the holes at the bottom. Do a lot of research on ss carto replacements. SCV cloud maker replacement cartos were what I found and I will buy when I need a new bath, however they are not pre drilled Darn. Harder for you. But look for something like that write up and research it on ecf for reviews. If you use a thicker juice best go with 2 holes. If you use VG only it will turn in to a hassle basically. Too thick. Three holes to often creates the hard to reverse flooding. Easier and less hassle to drip ( periodically on single hole ) than deal with flooding. I am just lining up 3 clearos to donate to my roommate. I'm done with them but I did spend some time getting used to my tank and replaceable cartos. It has a learning curve that deserves attention because really, with a long life battery you can get a whole lot of convenient vaping done. Initially the first several draws are ideal. I have three going so if I am in hungry vaping staeo f mind I can achieve those initial draws more often. The fact is the carto gets a little dryer and heated so flavor and vaper production wanes. VAriable volt helps dominate the slight differences between the same ohm cartos ( ex: 1.7 ohm is really more like a range from 1.6 to 1.8 generally) and differences in juices and their need for some LR vaping and others a little higher resistance. I don't know if this is too much info. I'd rather have too much than not enough. The two things I hate( and everybody does) is dry burnt tastes and flooding. This is what you will deal with but it can be dealt with effectively. Te leaking is what will happen from flooding. Ot from the tank if you get a recommended one. I recommend Pyrex glass tanks. Must have 510 drip tips for 510 replacement cartos and there are a bunch out there. Personally I have three Pyrex glass tanks by theecig.com He's been in business for over 4 years. His priceson cartos are high but I've never bought one that was a bummer. The clear glass ones exclusively. 2 -6 mil slims and 1 -3 mil. I love the 6 mil slims and the size carto, 45 mm long, is pretty ideal for me. The 3 mil size 35 mm long is more problematic, as expensive as the 45 mm and harder to find and don't last as long and just haven't had the best results for me personally. Anyway. Some ecf posts talk about how delicate the tanks are and it's just not true. They make it sound bad at it really isn't at all unless you are very clumsy and bash things all around and drop on concrete. The other thing about theecig.com is he has along, very slow video perfect for showing how to use the ssreplacment cartos in tanks and wether you up his stuff or not it is Avery good intro to it. It was for me anyway.
That's it. If you have any questions I'm happy to try and share my experience with it. All systems have their limitations, a lot of people try different things and change and then denounce what they used before. Mostly it's good if you learn to work with it. Even clearos. But I love my tanks too much to try and other with clearos myself for the cost factor.long winded. I usually am not. Enjoy. Sorry for any type is I am not going to correct

The Vivi nova clearos work pretty good from my experience. Never tried the Kangers. I have 3 Vivi's in use right now and the only time I had one leak is when I dropped it and the center post got out of alignment. Once I tweaked it to line up properly and put it back together I was good to go.
Using 2 minis and one reg size. Once the flavor gets funky (burnt plasticy taste) I take 'em apart, clean, dry burn the coil to get the gunk off and it's ready to go again! If the coil is shot, they are replaceable, or even rebuildable if you are so inclined.

I've been vaping for about a month, and I've come to cartomizer tanks as my daily vape. They're convenient, and I'm enjoying the flavour more than I have from my attys.

The carto filler (although it could be argued mutes the flavour slightly) seems to also guard against dry hits and burnt flavours better than I've found most atomizers, especially for a beginner like me.

So my 2 cents is if you are looking for ease of use than I would go with a vision vivi nova. IMHO a 2.0ohm ss carto in a tank is the way to go. You can buy these in 5 packs from 5 bucks to 10 bucks I punch my own but some vendors will punch them for you. I know valley vapes will punch and test them for you. As I said IMHO for flavor and vapor as well as ease a carto tank is the way to go.:D

My biggest beef with cartos is that the quality control on them has seemed to have gone a little downhill over the past year. You hear of people buying packs of cartos only to find one or two that work well ... if at all. That should not be acceptable by us as a community.

This is why I switched to ikenvape 801 fusions with a stealth adapter and they fit in my 510 tanks.

Come on. A Carto is pretty simple, and all the Boge versions seem to work fine, and cost pennies.

I'm new and also shying away from carts. Of the 5 I got with my SmokTech 510 ego-T starter kit, they almost all don't hit or leak after a week. Definitely going the way of dripping.

if you feel this way do yourself a favor, head over to the RBA forums, learn about rebuilding atomizers, watch some youtube vids on it and get something like the cheaper AGA/Berkshire and enjoy.

I don't get your comment? Are you suggesting there AREN'T a lot of people out there who are having quality issues with cartos, especially Boges? Because I can assure you there are.

That's not to say they aren't a viable option, I'm not saying that. But quality issues are well documented on this site and others. Ultimately it's a personal preference and I recommend trying everything to newcomers on this site to form their own opinion, including cartos. I was just stating MY "beef" with them currently.
