That seems to be what we are all trying to do here. and I get it. mostly the health issues not to mention the cost these days. the part I don't get is insurance my company today stated that of course if you smoke or use any type of nicotine then your price goes up. Yes, nicotine not tobacco. They even stated that e cigs counted as smoking and unless we stopped all together with noctine products we will pay more. I am at a loss. I know I can't just stop cause I have adhd. Trust me I have tried. I just want to cry at this point. I am trying and I still can't win. Sorry I just needed to vent.

I hear ya. Until vaping has been used for years with no ill-effects, though, we may not see a change in these policies. Especially considering that insurance companies have a bottom line to protect and any way to get more money is probably going to stick around as long as it's legal.

I wonder if/when becomes a legitimate smoking cessation product if these sorts of premium increases would have to be reconsidered.

This is health insurance. Sad part is you can wear a patch cause that is part of the program to get you to quit. They even said the could do random nicotine tests. Really? Wow! I would go with Obama care but hell that is even more expensive.

How long can you "wear the patch" for? The FDA approved NRTs for long term use I think. So "Wear the patch" or "Use the gum". The carbon monoxide test should be negative or close to it (cooking, etc. Could give you a minor bit).

I really don't understand these companies. Bad logic, IMO. I guess e-cigs represent an unknown to them.

I'm not suggesting you lie, but you can quit smoking using alternative nic, right?

it's simple, we are (kind of) being rewarded for being good little puppets to quit smoking, by using their stuff that we don't like, i.e. the gum, the patch, etc.,
but as soon as we try to quit smoking on our terms in way we actually like, it's being demonized.
I really don't understand this....all the products that are used in the liquids are FDA approved (some even for the purpose of inhaling meds), yet use of the combination of those products is being punished, and people are trying to ban it, on the other hand trying to legalize the use of ......... ... ???
I have nothing backing me up, but I'm sure there are plenty of FDA approved products being combined for usage, and noone is making a fuss about it (at least not til negative effects occur)

All the time. You ever have two prescriptions from your doctor at the same time? Do you really think they did studies on how your arthritis medication interacts with your blood pressure drugs? How about the aspirin regimen? caffeine? We're all using FDA approved substances in unapproved combinations every day. They've individually approved mozarella, tomatoes, sausage and pepperoni but I doubt they've ever studied pizza

After talking to the quit smoking group today they won't even give me the patch cause I am vaping cause they can not determine what my nicotine intake is vaping. I told her I could tell her how much I was ordering and her answer was because the company that put it together was not regulated they could not actually determine how much I was getting. So when I have my appointmentin a few weeks iI will let them know that this bs has lead me back to analogs and now they can give me the patch. I really have no intention of stopping vaping maybe lower my intake but not quit. Funny thing is now they plan on doing random nicotine tests to confirm you do not smoke. Guess maybe it is time for people on welfare to quit smoking too if they can afford drugs and ciggertetts then they should not get help. I do know of a hospital here that does drug and nicotinetesting before you get hired now and they won't hire you to if you have either. I work for a Medicare company and the funny thing is you can get a lung transplant vaping cause they do consider the it a smoking cessation program. Lol funny how that works.

It's all about the benjamins. Really. Insurance companies are for profit businesses and they don't know the long term effects any more than we do. There is no way that they are going to open themselves up to huge payouts if, in another 20-30 years, we all develop second heads. Please keep asbestos in mind. When I was young, it was the all-use wonder material. Now, it is an anathema. No sane person would sing its' praises.

Also, we are stepping on a LOT of toes, with regard to the 'cash cow' of tobacco. Vaping is, in my humble opinion, NEVER going to enjoy mainstream acceptance. Yes, many ex-smokers are enjoying benefits now, due to the change. Until the cashflow to 'the powers that be' is meaningful, we will always be the target. Pick your poison, regulation and taxes or being an outlaw. Don't believe me? What happened to the 'roll your own' shops? In florida, they were effectively outlawed.

But like I have said before they can't have their cake and eat it to. Either we smoke or we don't. If everyone stopped then what would happen to tobacco companies? They want us to quit but they want that tax too. They can't have it both ways. If tabaco went under think of all the jobs lost as well. There is no win to this no matter how you look at it. It is sad.
