As some of you already know from my prior thread, my RM2 topcover got screwed up due to a series of mishaps. Instead of just sending it back to Rob to fix I actually tried to fix it myself and screwed it up even more. Lesson learned: the plating on the RM2 is really thin, be very very gentle if you try to sand it to give it the brush looked. Using 2000 grit sandpaper and very light pressure I sanded off a quarter of the plating unintentionally, and being 3/4 brushed and 1/4 brass the top cap just looked like crap. I ended up sanding the whole topcap brass just to make it uniform but I just didn't like the look of a brass RM2.
So.......
I sprayed it flat black with textured black spray paint.
The color is a little off as the topcap is slightly darker then the REO but overall I think I may have atoned for my screwups. I hope anyone that decides to mod their RM2, intentionally or not, can learn from my mistakes.
