How did the experiment with the citric acid work? I bought some today and have 1 soaking it as I type. From the sounds of this I'm getting discouraged. Do I need to buy 100 atomizers?

Idaho--I am still waiting for the Citric Acid to be shipped to me and will be interested in your findings--you may have to go out an easy 36 hours. As for some other things in the works--a lot of progess is being made--just not ready to report. So you can hold of on the 100 atomizers for a little while longer--LOL---Sun

If you are just looking to get rid of vape flavors, steaming will work. What Sun is referring to is the black carbon buildup on the mesh. I have only been vaping for 3 weeks and have yet to see the carbon buildup -- but I am using a grain alcohol soak + steam blast every week (you MUST reprime if you do this!) AND rotating atts to try to prevent that. It is working for me. Haven't lost an att yet -- but I am rotating about 10 of them.

For the last couple of months or so I've been soaking the atomisers in IPA for at least 24 hours to 36 hours - then hitting each end with the steam cleaner for 20-30 seconds.
It's important to let the steam cleaner get up to maximum temperature, this allows some pressure to build up in the steam generator, the steam is then almost invisible, very hot and very dry.
I find it best to pump the trigger a few times whilst I'm blasting the atts, this seems to help the pressure to rise a bit.
When the steam is this hot the atomisers are dry and ready to use almost as soon as they cool down.
The big disadvantage with soaking in IPA is that it softens the paint on the atomisers - but I quite like the stainless look anyway.

While not convinced that pressured steam would be a good move, gentle steaming would be an alternative to a final rinse in distilled water.

Wouldn't let me make a new thread, but I have an old hippie trick to clean stuff I won't mention here. Has anyone tried denture cleaning tabs? I use to use these alot on stuff to clean super gunked up brown resin off of plastic and glass with awesome results. The brand I only used is efferdent (spelling) works like a champ. If this will nuke resin to oblivion im sure it will really clean an atomiser. On another note my old DJ boss has two DF-50 pink floyd smoke machines that are glycol (molecule crackers). He has been breathing that stuff for 25+ years so thick you can't see the other side of the room, every week on dj shows. He goes to the doctor if he sneezes wrong, and hes healthy as a horse. That should be some testament as to the safety of breathing glycol.

Citric acid, potassium caroate, sodium sulfate, sodium bicarbonate, PEG 150, sodium carbonate, sulfamic acid, malic acid, aroma, PEG 90, sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate.
So citric acid + fizz action. I have wondeered before if cola works (when it does) because of the dissolved CO2 released. Perhaps bubbles can loosen the deposit. A bit of a long-shot but worth a try. Rinse well after.

As a matter of fact ... I do indeed use efferdent to clean my atomizers. Seems to work well, but I don't know how they look "inside". I have only done this a few times, but the atomizers have always worked well afterwards.
