Hello everyone, I am brand new to diy juice and I had a couple of questions. I have made a lorann flavor juice and a wizardlabs flavor. about 5% flavor in both 5ml bottles. the flavor is very weak and I was looking to get a more upfront bold taste. I have looked at steeping but in alot of the diy videos I see on mixing they take a vape after they are done and say it tastes great. Am I doing something wrong? or does steeping really do that much?

I am still real new too but from what I have read, the tobacco flavors really do get better with time. I vape my fruit flavors immediately and have no issues. Also to make the flavors kind of pop, use lemon juice (the little yellow lemon) in fruit flavors and apple cider vinegar in the tobaccos. Good luck to you. So far I am have fun experimenting. I will add to keep really good notes when you mix. Just my :2c:

My very first DIY was a "straight" vanilla - 100%VG/20% TFA Vanilla Bourbon/24mg/ml nic......
It's been steeping over 2 weeks now.....and it's JUST starting to "come across" with some real flavor, not just GREAT vapor!!:D
The subtler flavors - vanilla, creme brulee, marshmallow, caramel - tend to take longer for the flavor to build....

I read all I could about steeping on ECF after questioning my first juices as well. It's sort of like wine making. Some flavors can be mixed and vaped immediately, while other more complex flavors take time.

Being the impatient humans that we are, my wife and I decided to get a ultrasonic cleaner for steeping. The results are literally amazing. What would normally take weeks only took a few hours.

For tobacco I have tried TFA RY4 double and Tab and like them both. RY4 is very popular and the Tab is a bit strong and might not be for everyone. I just ordered some Hangsen's tobaccos as they are very popular and presumably easy to mix and don't need any additives (AP, EM, ACV, etc. unless you want).

I subscribed to the "fruits don't need to steep or only need 3 days" and that might be true for some vendor brands or just fruit. If you add menthol or creme, etc, I have found a long steep produces "bold" flavor and also allows the different flavors to meld.

I started out with all TFA flavors and some people don't like them. They say they taste chemically or something. I haven't found that but I tried some juice that had been sitting for 2 months and it was way different from a 3-7 day steep. It changed color and had a deep flavor profile not present in the same un-steeped or quickly steeped juice.

Ultimately you will have to do some reading and experiment so buy sample sizes to start out.

Next question, What tobacco flavor concentrate do you guys prefer? I ordered the commerical tobacco from wizardlabs and it is horrible. I don't want to keep wasting money on flavors that aren't any good.

Firstly the hangsen tobaccos are very good and a good choice for first time DYI's. You can see a good selection here.

Second: steeping is very important for tobaccos and this can take anywhere from 2 - 5 weeks. There are faster methods. so read my blog on steeping that you can reach by clicking the little number 4 to the left just under my avatar where it says blog entries.

I've been very impressed with Hangsen tobaccos. Tab Blended and RY1 are really good. I mixed 7% tab blended w/ 5% tfa dry4 and it has become an all day vape. I mixed a batch for 2 friends and they love it as well.

ETA: steeping tobacco flavors is very important. Minimum 1-2 weeks but more is better. I had a vanilla/ry1 mix that tasted pretty awful even after 2 weeks. It's a month now and I tried it again. It's not perfect but totally vapable compared to what it was. Color has changed dramatically as well. I may end up investing in an ultrasonic rig because waiting for a month just to see if a batch is good is hard on the nerves.

Found this somewhere way back when from some post on here (I take no credit)

fruit flavors and candy flavors need the least amount of steeping..

tobaccos need about 2-3weeks.. the older it is the better it gets.. like a fine wine... (especially our little commercial tobacco All Day Vape) dont even get me started .. im vaping it now.. along with some ry4...

deserts... vanilla, chocolates... they need the longest amount of steeping.. yea.. like a month or more... believe me..

need to mix water soluble with water -
alcohol bases with vodka - fr 24 hrs......
