Ok so I understand that steeping allows some juices to taste better? That it is a personal taste preference? But why? Is it because the ingredients are mixed better? Is it because certain ingredients evaporate?

I have never steeped my juices since I started 5 weeks ago, but none of them have tasted the same as they were sampled at my local shop. So my question is? Could steeping allow the juice to taste more like the samples at the shop that have been sitting in an tank for a long time?

Also if I took the juice out of the bottle, would that make the steeping process faster?

like this?

Thank you.

Respectfully, steeping has NOTHING to due with the cap off a bottle or in your case placing the juice in a bowl. Steeping is all about agitation and heat when using an ultrasonic cleaner or the hot water bath routine. A bottle in the closet SEALED and an occasional shake is all about letting the "elements" in the juice blend with each other.

The juice in the bowl is a great way to RUIN juice and I really don't know anyone on ECF with props or any quality vendor who would tell you to do that. You have a large surface area in the bowl and the juice is evaporating and that's NOT a good thing over an extended period of time because it will NUKE/DILUTE the flavor. No need to believe me, ask Halo and show them your pic.

Thank you, that is exactly what I was getting at! Leaving the juice exposed (cap off or otherwise) does not make any sense to me unless you want evaporation, and I have not found any information anywhere that explains why I would want that in the first place. I can only think of if you have a juice that has alcohol and the user reacts adversely to it and wants it evaporated. But you would lose a lot more than the alcohol, so it is better to just use another juice.

Now, agitation and temperature management are things that CAN modify the juice in many ways, good and bad. I just want to know in what ways so that I can then use (or not) when I feel a juice might need it.

Obviously, if you have fresh mixed juice you might want to agitate and let sit before enjoying so that ingredients have an opportunity to mix. Can't think of any other reason. That's why Halo juice attracted me because I keep hearing how their juice arrives ready to enjoy.

Thanks again for clearing up for me.

Normally, I'd agree, but Halo juices have that common element that some feel just needs to "go away". Some call it "cough syrup" or some other kind of medecine, and airing out works very well at getting rid of it.

AIV recommends airing out for sweet citrus flavors. I'm sure it mutes some of those flavors, but it's often overwhelming, fresh out of the bottle.

Everyone is different; some enjoy rainy days, others don't care for them.:?:

Shaking a juice hard introduces hundreds of little bubbles into the liquid. This is hard to see in a blue Halo bottle, but visible in clearer bottles. That's why you pop off the top when you first get it, to introduce fresh air into the bottle. Shaking aerates the juice (as well as mixes it). Talk to some wine expert about this.

I think it is about several things, letting it air out, aerating and mixing, and just allowing it to age. I have found this all to be too subtle for my tastes to notice, with the exception of VooDoo.

As Seniorboy mentioned, other variables come into play. Mostly my taste perception, which has absolutely gone bs crazy. Like today, every vape has a slight bitter aftertaste, and very little sweetness. Yet the wife's Minestrone was amazing! Go figure.

I'm not sure if wine analogies apply, but whatever floats you ;)

I agree; some foods will, for a bit, affect your vaping experience. I need to find a good flavor to go with a good Port, got any suggestions? :)

despite the fact that Portugeusa is a vile and evil language, the wine from Oporto is incredibly complex, even compared to other wines. as much as i hate to admit it, i'd say Voodoo would be one of the first choices depending on the type of notes you get from it.

I disagree with Port and Voodoo. The flavors would fight with each other.

I think something complementary would be better, Torque or Prime? I'm thinking the unsweet tobaccos is what I'd give a try.

Having said that, I don't know of any food I'd pair with Voodoo. It plays alone, it demands your full attention, just like its affectionados.

Tribeca is the only regular juice I use from Halo. My normal procedure, strictly out of habit, is to put all of my bottles in to ziploc bags with the air sucked out with a straw and let them do a couple of soaks in hot (not boiling) water. Shake vigorously and let them sit in a dark, cool place for a few days. Shaking a few times while they sit. Have I noticed a difference over using them straight out of the mailbox?? Couldn't really say. As I said it is just habit now.

Now I will say that I bought a sample bottle of Southern Classic and tried it right way. Way too strong and citrusy. I set it aside and it seemed to mellow out a little after about a week. Just a little though.
