Heya! Hardly a silly question! "Steeping" is simply where you allow the juice to sit for a period of time to allow the flavorings to completely permeate the nic juice and, oftentimes, intermingle with the other flavorings to reach the intended flavor that the mix is named for. Similar to allowing time for a tea bag to sit in hot water, depending on how strong or light you may like it.

I have ordered a couple of sampler packs from Juicy Vapor and FreedomSmokeUSA. I tried them right after receiving them and only like about 30% of them. I'm hoping that allowing them time to "infuse" will change my opinion of the ones that seem to be popular, but taste too perfumey to me. I'm considered a "super-taster" and am quite the foodie... not caring much for food flavors at the moment right now, but on a search to find a good daily tobacco juice. So far, I'm digging Volcano's USA Premium Tobacco, which I'm told is really close to 555. 555 will be in my next sampler purchase.

To me if it isn't good with in a week it never will be, I also think its a marketing scheme to get people to buy more juice, I mean if all the molecules don't come together in a week and it doesn't taste decent by then, well then I'm not gonna like it, just the facts how I see it.

I must sat that I agree that my juices seem to get better after some time passes. To this I will add that the ones I have tried and then let sit also have then been exposed to some air in the bottle. Going forward I will be putting "some" of the contents of newly received bottles into the ones that I am currently using. That will let the new bottles sit while I finish my current inventory. Side note, I love my 555 as my evening vape w/ a cocktail.

Hey everyone, I hope i'm not asking a repeat question. Is it good to steep all e-liquids or is it just the tobacco liquids that need it? I ordered some TastyVapor tobacco e-liquid (100%PG, 48mg/ml) about 2 weeks ago. I stored it at room temperature in the dark since then and there's been no real difference. It looks slightly darker, but everything else is the same. Also, is it true that PG liquids take a lot longer to steep? Dave from QCAssociates on youtube said that PG liquids take 2-4 weeks, but VG liquids only take a few days to a week. Thanks for the info guys.

I think anyone who mixes their own juices will testify that steeping is hardly urban myth. I let mine steep for at least a week. I also get juice from one vendor that mixes it fresh to order. I pick my order up in person so it was mixed either the same day or the day before. It rarely tastes good the first week, or the second. My first order from them I got my juice home and tried every flavor. I was highly disappointed. I threw them in my stash thinking I'd just wasted a bunch of $$$ on this stuff. I found them a couple months later and decided to try them before getting rid of them. They were great, every one of them. One has become a favorite so I order knowing I'll have to let it sit untouched for a month before I can use it.

The only juices I don't steep are the Chinese juices. I figure they're probably a couple of months old when I get them anyway. Besides I've never seen any change in them when they sit in my stash.

Ohh yeah, I know there's a thread for these questions, but I can't find an answer. Anyone know how many posts I have to make before I can write on the swapping thread? I have about now and still can't post anywhere than the beginners forum. I've tried a few places and it won't let me. I really hope it's not 70 because that'll take me forever. I like answering peoples questions when I can and I always like helping people, but I just can't type that much fast enough.

A few more steeping question...
Can e-liquids be over steeped? I've heard of e-liquid going bad on people before. I'm wondering if after it's done steeping you should put it in the fridge so it doesn't age anymore (or as fast). I know some people say not to store e-liquids in the fridge, but I think that's just because they don't know much about it. I've read from some people that know what they're talking about that they all say it's not only fine to do that, but it's better and will increase the life of e-liquids.

Also, Will e-liquids steep in the fridge (at all)? or will they steep slower?

That depends on how you define good.

I will vape a new e-juice right out of the mailbox, I just reserve judgment on how good the flavor is until a week has gone by :)

Wow.... thank you everyone for in input and not laughing at my question!!! I really hope that my new trial juices don't need to be steeped... I want to try them ASAP. ;) But maybe I'll try my blueberry now... I have clean atomizers, and I've had the juice for a little over a week now, so maybe it will yummy now??? ;)

Steeping time is juice-dependant. I've found that tobacco flavors from Backwoods Brew (like Casablanca and Maple Tobacco) require about a week's worth of steeping to get the full flavor, while his fruit flavors (Peach and Blueberry) are fine to vape immediately. With any flavor of juice you try, have some immediately, then wait a few days, then have some more. It's the only way to learn for yourself. Just never throw any away if you don't like it at first.

From my understanding of the rules, it's 15. If I get there and can't post in other threads... I guess I'll just become a lurker.

After 5 posts you should be able to post elsewhere, though it may take an hour or so for the forum to update.

Juice can go bad, which I guess you would call over-steeped, with time, and heat/light may compound the effects.

Cool, though not necessarily cold, and dark, are the general recommended storage conditions.

Overall refrigeration is not necessary, though it should not harm juice at all. Mainly people don't put their stash in the refrigerator just as another precaution, particularly if a house has children.
