Hi Fellow Vapers!

Does anyone know what "steeping" means in regards to e-liquid? I want to try a new vape, "Dragons Blood" from EC but comments refer to steeping. I don't want to assume that I fully know what that means. I am thinking it means to load a clearo with juice and let it sit? The site is referring to a 5 to 7 day steep. I am befuddled. Can anyone point me to a good explanation of this?

Thanks =)

Steeping is like .....osmosis. When you mix Vg and PG and Nicotine together, it mixes pretty good pretty fast. But the more flavors you mix in that base juice, the longer it has to "sit" or "steep" before the flavors and PG/VG/Nic mix and tastes good.

The more complex flavors need more steeping. fruit flavors need almost no steeping at all while tobaccos and chocolats and creams and coffees seem to need losts of steeping.

It just comes down to "time for it to sit and mix well".

Giving your juice a "hot water bath" can help ( heat water in a cup, then throw your juice bottle in there for a while, this makes the juice very thin and runny so when you shake it, it mixes better)

Some will take the cap off or even pour it in a beaker so any alchohol will evaporate ( not all juices have alchohol)...Alchohol in juice does not taste very good. Some do it an hour, some over night, some for a day or two.

There are folks that have bought ultrasonic cleaners to mix their juice better to cut off the time it takes to steep. (this is a water vat that vibtrates)

I hope this partially answers your question. I am of the opinion that if it has to steep for several weeks, Im not to buy it, simply because if you cant steep it in a few short days, I dont beleive it will ever be good. Just my two cents.

For the OP, the amount of steep time can vary on a few different things as well. Usually, steeping takes about 7 days. Generally, most people will leave the tops off of an e liquid for approximately 24 hours. Then you have to just let the juice sit for a week or so. Tobacco flavored juices take longer to steep. Higher VG % juices take longer to steep. Larger bottles take longer to steep as well. So in the case of EC Blends, if you get a few 5ml samples, they may not take the full week to steep. Whereas if you were to get a 30 ml bottle, it may take longer.

IMO, EC blends eliquid is not the greatest. I was loured into them because of their low prices once. However, I never went back to order anything else. Just be careful. Get some samples before you go all in. There are definitely EC Blends fans on this forum. I am not one of them.

yep, what they said! I'm a DIY'er and so far I haven't had to steep anything.

I will have to agree with this to a large degree, although two or three days does seem to make some juices a bit better.....three or four weeks ? Nah.

EDIT: And this statememnt I have made could be due to my inexperience. I have only been vaping and testing this steep thing for about 7 or 8 months. So take my opinion with a grain of salt....
