Steeping

Newbie question!

How do you "steep" a new juice? Does that just mean open the top of the ejuice bottle and let it sit? Or pour it in tank to seat? How long do you need to let it seat?

it's a very complicated process, and requires a high level of chemistry knowledge, but I'll try to explain it in layman's terms.

Take a bottle of halo juice
shake it, shake it like a polaroid picture
take the top off
store it in a cupboard for a day or two

halo is pre steeped, but some people like to steep it more, I don't bother.

I agree with chesty without the need of steeping in halo juices, but spaceballs pointed out that you might get a little weird taste in fresh bottles. You can just air it out for a couple hours after you shake and should be good to go.

Usually I open it to get a fresh bit of air in, close it, shake it to get all the little bubbles in it. And I mean for like 30 seconds!!!

Repeat it if I think about it.

And always, always, shake it just before using it.

Of course, make sure the top is tight before shaking!! The stuff is like $2,000/gal

Try it first. If it's okay no need to steep it. Some juices contain alcohol or other agents in their flavoring so taking the cap off allows those to evaporate. In my opinion, mixing a juice isn't rocket science and vendors should have a method of mixing their juices before they sell it. Some cut rate joints will just throw your stuff together into the very bottle they send you and then, yeah, you should give it some time to allow it to settle.

Just throw it in a drawer. Time is the key. You can shake, heat, open all you want. Time is the real factor.

The majority of juices need no steeping though IMHO..... You will find out that most of them, if they are bad when you get them, they will be bad two or three weeks later. There are a few exceptions.... Some complex flavors and tobaccos.

And some get worse by steeping/aging.

You will find your own path.........its a journey.

Please excuse me but I'm going to get a little snarky and approach the OPs question from what I like to call "The Head Trips Of Vaping on ECF".

1- No one on planet earth can tell YOU if you need to steep a juice and for how long. Please ignore the noise, bloviating BS, snobby I'm cool and cooler than YOU ARE. It's about YOUR taste buds and YOUR evolving journey. Your Buds will change during the day and over a period of time. That's expected so start with a good smell of the juice, record your impressions, and then vape the fresh juice. Eventually you will dial in a given juice and know exactly what to do.

2 - The power of suggestion: that's thoughts from well meaning (sometimes) folks about how a juice is supposed to taste, angels will run around your house after 2 months, and trying to convince you via the power of suggestion what your supposed to taste or because they can taste something that you can't you MUST steep for 3 months. It's all BS! Some of it is just showing off, trying to be cool, snobby bloviating absolute defecation! Period. All that ever matters to me and US is that YOU are happy with the taste and you never ever smoke a ciggy again.

So it's time for some examples to illustrate my views. All of these posts which I have reworded for humor have appeared in little corners of ECF. In general, not this forum. All of these "posts" are total BS!

I steep all my juices with the cap off for one week. You can't taste the full flavor profile unless you do this

Funky Ducks Juices can not be appreciated unless you use a dripper

It really really blossoms after steeping for 3 months. Just let it sit

My juice taste so much better on my brand new gold and brass with LEDs "Big Shot On ECF MOD"

Steeping sucks! I don't have the patience! Just pop the cork and vape! You wont regret it!

Shake and sit. You only need to leave the cap off if it smells of perfume or chemicals as some of the components such as alcohol will evaporate. I usually let a fresh batch sit for about a week but I use my dripper to check how they taste when I first get/make them then do it periodically over the week. If it tastes good to me then I vape it. Not too hard to do, just find how you like it and remember how long it took for it to taste well to your tastebuds.

I'm not sure it's fair to call vendors "cut rate" just because some liquids need steeping. (I'm not disagreeing that there are definitely some cut rate joints out there though.) The truth is that many vendors mix juices to order, and they simply need time for everything to come together. One of the things that I appreciate about Halo is that, in general, the juices don't need steeping, but you can bet that if they were made within hours of being shipped they would need some steeping time at home.

(I do think, by the way, that Voodoo benefits from a day or two sitting uncapped. YMMV, of course.)

......What he said. It is easy to tell if it is not ready yet just by smelling it. If you vape a juice that still smells like perfume or chemicals, it will taste like this too and you will have to rinse out your wicks and tank to get the funk out.

{Halo juice is supposed to be pre steeped but some are just not quite ready sometimes, I guess! My Tribeca, Turkish, Sub-Zero, Torque, Southern, Prime and VOODOO were great after just one night with the cap off. But Longhorn and Midnight Apple still are not ready after a few days. Your results may vary!}
