Are there flavors that without a doubt need to steep? How would i know before i taste if i need to steep the juice is what im wondering.

Would fruit flavors be good right away or do they need time to meld? How about a fruit and a Custard, Or a Cupcake and a fruit?

Does adding marshmallow to boost body and meld flavors take time to do so or does it do it right after mixing/shaking?

What about AP? Does it take time to do its magic or again once its mixed in it works?

The way I do it is if a recipe has 3 or more flavors they get better with aging. It may take only a week depending on the number of flavors. Three flavors=1 week minimum. Four flavors=2 weeks minimum. You get the picture. I taste mine daily because I can :) and love them right outta the gate. I do a Vanilla Custard with Cinnamon that I do a hot bath with because it does need to age and I don't wanna wait, it works/taste better at 1+ weeks.

I mix these flavors daily to ensure they are mixed well. Some recipes just need to age longer than others. Like the one I mentioned, the Custard.

Fruit flavors mixed with one other flavor are pretty good from the start. I find no need to age them. Just mix them each time before I fill & vape.

Marshemellow and AP are like any additional flavor and I count them as such, they take as much time to meld as any flavor will.

Most mixes need steeping, the amount of time depends on which flavorings are used

Tobaccos 2 - 5 weeks
deserts 1- 3 weeks
fruits and candies right away to 1 week (Average 2 days)

All mixes should be tasted right after mixing so you can establish a baseline to compare to.

I know I should let my mixes steep but I have no patience at all so I vape it right away ha. I have noticed the AP comes through more the next day (on the rare times I have some juice left in the bottle). Marshmallow is great right away to me too. Maybe try making two batches of the same juice just to vape one and let the other steep so you can see which one you like better? Happy mixing :)

Steeping is a large part of the mixing process but that's not to say that if it taste good now it still must be steeped. It's all a matter of personal taste. So if it taste good now then there's nothing wrong with vaping it now and being along for the ride as the mix matures.

I find the fruit and desert flavors I mix are pretty much shake and vape. Some of the tobacco's get better after steeping a couple of weeks. I don't know for sure if it is true but I find the darker my mix, the longer steep is required. A single flavor like peach, blueberry or even creme brulee is pretty darn good as soon as I make it. Good luck to you and look over some of the DIY threads. Some really good information there and the people are so helpful. Happy mixing. :)

Steeping is a subjective thing that most people will answer differently. Some don't steep at all and use alot of flavor (20%), so that it tastes good right away but their mixes usually dull (overflavored) within a week or two. Some steep for a very long time (2-6 weeks), and use lower %'s because they know that the mix will get bolder with time.

I steep all my mixes (besides unflavored) for a week. After that, if it's still not good, I decide that it'll never be good (or that I'm not patient enough for it).

I think I'm in the minority, but my mixes are shake and vape (ok I usually give them overnight). I'm not saying they don't improve over time, but they are good from the get go. I figure if they get even better as I'm vaping the bottle, it's a bonus.

Cheers,
Steve

Funny thing here...earlier this week I just ran across four 5ml samples I made back in February. Hangsen Tab Blended - T5 - Indian - RY4....they've been sitting in a cabinet...I make mixes with these flavors pretty regularly and honestly, the same flavor mixes that I put in the crockpot and heat 4-6 hrs taste better than these that have been ageing for 2 months

Good to know!

Everything goes in my crockpot now - I'm far too impatient to wait :p

Great to have a bunch of comments !!! I'll def be tasting as i go. (how cant ya?)

I cant wait to get some money and make my first order! I like store bought stuff but the thoughts on making my own and "tinkering" with diff mixes makes me so excited!

A note on the steeping that someone mentioned.... I did a review on some localish juice. It was good from the beginging but after 2 weeks was REALLY weak on flavor. And another from the same vendor was great when i got it but after 1 week was ok. Go figure that when i did the review for the 1 week mark they were still good but 3 days after not so much. I thought it was my buds but i guess it was just the lack of flavors. HUH i learned something today !

I mix, set the closed bottle in hot tap water to warm it up (makes my high-vg liquid thin), shake it, and vape right away. Who wants to wait a month to see how it turned out? This is for everything from single-flavor samples to complex recipes. I don't use tobaccos often, but I use all the other flavor families regularly. On occasion when one does 'steep' a while, only spices like cinnamon and nutmeg have changed in strength; never really have gotten any other notable flavor changes.
