The following hobby stores in Memphis all carry "Great Planes" products which includes high end battery chargers.

I'm figuring that if they sell expensive chargers they probably sell Li-ion batteries. I can't be sure model planes use 14500s.

Since I can't actually meet him, if this scores him some bats, would a Protege at half price be fair?

I don't think so. I've got three large dogs. What they put in their mouths gets chewed vigorously, then swallowed. You don't want to think about it.

If you go to radio shack they have AA l-ion batteries non rechargable but they should work 3.7v. I bought one for a box mod I made and it worked fine
