I don't understand the kind of attachment to people we don't know .....he was a business man and a salesman yes but the santa clara valley is full of brilliant minds and public speakers ( after all he was selling ) that created lots of jobs here from the 70's to the 90's who will never see his recognition. I am sorry for his family's loss, no different then for any one else .
As for me ,I grew up here and we never used an apple or an i-phone ...were pc people .
And android apps are spanking apple in sales .Just sayin.Macs have never been on the desks of any high tech company I've seen here .jmho

I don't really understand the attachment either, but you have to respect the man for what he talked his way into. It's not about his products today that matters. You should watch Pirates of silicon valley(it's on you tube) to get an understanding. Before him and Woz came along nobody was in the business of home computing. the way the computer industry is today lies on him. Sure if he didn't do it someone else would but it probably wouldn't have gone the way it did. Apple set the standard for home computing and kept raising the bar. The only thing that kept them in the dark was their business model. That proprietary stuff is how all computers were designed until Microsoft came along and the "IBM Clones" started working their way on the market. If Mac OS was a generic OS like Microsoft then I believe apple could have very well wiped Microsoft off the face of the earth. Of course both Apple and Microsoft exists today because steve and bill was very good with how they talked and that took them the distance.

he changed our world, nancy. It wasnt just apple stuff and the last decade. Thanks to him you have that handy dandy mouse you click stuff with. In 1986, he acquired the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm Ltd which was spun off as Pixar Animation Studios! He basically got the whole computer animation thing going! (I love toy story!!) I think he mattered to the world. Even if I don't agree with everything he's done he's still a significant person. I dont use macs unless Im on campus and I dont have an ipod or anything. But I appreciate his contributions to mankind. :)

"Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart." -Steve Jobs

I fully understand and agree. I'm not a fan of Apple or Jobs either. I was happy when they started using BSD Unix for their OS but the whole ipod/ipuck/ibrick proprietary thing has left a very bad taste in my mouth. The only thing I could praise that man for now is coming up with a way to rob lots of people of their money happily with products that were never worth half their MSRP to begin with.
