Still at it but need help with my cartos - Filler Material- Question #2

Ok, so I did a search on carto filler shrinkage and it seems like maybe it's happening because I'm not keeping my carto wet enough? From what I've read, I'm pretty sure I should be getting more life from my cartos, but several of them, the filler has shrunk down toward the battery end and the center tube is pretty exposed. So am I running them dry and burning the filter? Could be why sometime I get that burnt taste? Like I said in Question # 1 - seems like I either underfill the carto or overfill and it leaks...

anyway - can/should I replace the filler stuff, and if so, what's the best thing to use and where do I get it? (PS...is it even worth it, or should I just bite the bullet and start over with blanks....and yeah no...not into having to clean my cartos....TOO much work...lol)

Talk about too much work. Trying to replace the filler, although I've heard it can be done, is FAR too much work. It's just polyester batting, but I don't know where you can get it that thin.
How do you fill them? I always had good luck with the condom method and the old Taryn spin.

I don't use poly-filled cartos anymore, but if I did, I'd look into using the carto cleaning gizmo kit that myfreedomsmokes has. They have a special adapter that you screw onto your carto and a syringe. You can fill them that way very accurately. Or, you can use a large syringe to plunge water through them from the battery end to clean them. It looks like it takes all the work out of cleaning them the old fashioned way. There's a video on the site of the unit in action and it looks pretty impressive. Might want to check that out. It might even blow your batting back into position as you plunge water up from the battery end.
